From my personal view, one cannot determine the popularity of a particular thing, for instance.,ur case the esplande or the ARTS by the responses in this forum. THIS forum is not known to many and not as popular as others and it will be inaccurate to say that 0 reponses means no one IS interested in art. If no one is interested in ART, many arts events will not have been carried on annually. ART can be in different forms and those in ESPLANDE may have been appealing to some. But IN ORDER TO INTEREST THE PUBLIC, the government MUST do something, in this case setting up THE ESPLANDE THREATHE, if not how
ART catched the public's attention? Yes, i do agree that the esplanade is AN WHITE ELEPHANT, but, most IMPORTANTLY, we must see things in different perspective, the setting up of ESPLANDE is not wholly on the idea of making money, but IS FOR SINGAPOREANS, thus when SINGAPOREANS do not wish or interested in therathre shows, causing the ESPLANDE to lose profits.. WE ARE AT PARTIAL FAULT. What done cannot be undone. Thus, instead of grumbling here that money is spending unnecessary, let us hope that more will appreciate art better in the future.
