I know these people exist here. People who do it because they love doing it...These are the artist. I can understand how they must feel...Believe me, I know how much they care for what they do.Originally posted by FireIce:i know alotta ppl from the arts scene
can say tt i was form there too (but succumb to pragmatism and some misplaced fate tt i chose a conventional educational path and career)
you can literally feel their passion in wat they do...
though they know tt their efforts are not widely appreciated, they still continue to do it....
lets not tok about foreign groups......locally, many chose to drop their good careers (law practice) to go into arts....
you can say tt through performing, one can express himself or herself liberally....which is something tt most ppl dun get from office jobs or other aspects of life....
back to the question...
yes, we can have all the arty-farty infrastructure, tons of arty-farty ppl but eventually it's the mindset of our ppl and the attitude towards this industry tt needs to be polished
and of cos.....bery subjective.....some like it, some don't, some don't mind.....
one thing sad to mention....
got once i happily book tix for a performance at assplanade....
it's a relli rare performance....a china troupe i had watched them once at a private closed-door event....and i mus applaud the quality....
on the day of the event, i went to assplanade to find out tt the tix are under-subscribed and the whole performance was cancelled....
in other countries, tix for their shows sell out real fast...
i wonder how many performances scheduled to be in singapore has been axed due to poor ticket sales.....
And thats my problem with the arts scene in Singapore. Most of them thinks rock music is not an art. Take Electric Guit is trash, is a angry youth. Take violin is classy and art. Anyway, I aint no youth...but a old disappointed musician..... but I still play anywayOriginally posted by I_am_PeTe_Parker:I would pay a kings ransom for a ticket to a rock concert if for example my favourite band is playing. Reason - to see them in the flesh. Same with football fans willing to go all the way to Old Trafford or Anfield to watch their team.
But...go watch man in tights and bulging LP doing the swan lake...Why would anyone want to prefer these things over the simpler enjoyments in life. If not for just to show off their expensive taste.
OMGWTF, I said duh as in its obvious. n00b.Originally posted by I_am_PeTe_Parker:uber sweetsor....I finally made the.raven tongue tied and speechless
My sensing of the topic throughout, you're only referring to performance Arts. Am i right?Originally posted by I_am_PeTe_Parker:I would pay a kings ransom for a ticket to a rock concert if for example my favourite band is playing. Reason - to see them in the flesh. Ok…I appreciate photography, paintings (all forms of paintings), graphics arts (you know the computer graphic and such), music (all forms of music) and many more…So they are all art in one form of another so I am actually an art appreciator.Originally posted by M©+square:My sensing of the topic throughout, you're only referring to performance Arts.
