I think not all of us need bullet train except those who complains that the next arriving train is long in terms of the timeOriginally posted by allentyb:woohoo
bullet train
do we really need bullet train at all?
haha..you must be kidding. how can a faulty train be towed away at high speed? increase its chances of being derailed?Originally posted by SBS9889U:must have bullet tow locomotive![]()
Get your facts right. Day trains take about 6-7 hours. Only night trains take about 10 hours due to freight and more stations along the route.Originally posted by ifish:currently it take 10hrs frm sg-kl
this is a good idea
relax la.. I only ask about the 10pm train..Originally posted by NickL_C151:Get your facts right. Day trains take about 6-7 hours. Only night trains take about 10 hours due to freight and more stations along the route.
Spore does not allow overhead electrical system because:Originally posted by stanley tan:More important, S'pore has different view of overhead system.
Our authority does not allow overhead system hanging around, they think it looks ugly.
My view is that usually a high speed train will use overhead instead of 3rd rail, that will have a problem between both parties.
another alternative i'd pick - hire a car, then zoom all the way to KL via NS Highway - can reach within ~3hrs. never mind the toll charges, petrol charges. i think some car rental co. do offer one-way offer - collect car in sg, return at KL branch. or else - budget airline you mentioned. and i'd not choose to travel by rail .Originally posted by allentyb:is it going to profitable
why not, build a railway, connecting from thailand then KL then final destination - singapore
no point, building bullet train, i rather take budget airline
it will be cheaper......
Singapore build fast and cost-effective, Malaysia will do the "regular" maintenance and Thailand will start operating the system before it's even ready. Good idea?Originally posted by TheVistaAero:Ya sounds a good idea... Build a bullet train from thailand to singapore?
BUT! who is gonna control it? Singapore Malaysia or Thailand?
What about giving the train 2 ways of power supply?Originally posted by SBS3688Y:Spore does not allow overhead electrical system because:
- its a hazard esp during maintenance or construction wks nearby - may get electrocuted accidentally
- heard also partly because of feng shui - these cables are bad luck and emit negative forces and so on
- even if sg approves the use of overhead cables, i think the railway would be limited to woodlands only and terminate there.
- overhead cables are unsightly as what you've mentioned
That's not a major problem. The next train (I mean the train that comes after the broken down train) can cross over to the opposite track, then bypass the broken down train and then go back to actual platform again. Just need to give train enough chances to cross over to other track. So no big delay, maybe only 15 minutes or so.
if a bullet train breakdown along the way - gone case already. the entire line will be delayed - probably for hours. and how long does it take for the recovery tow locomotive to reach the faulty bullet train and pull it off the tracks? and can the operators afford to station more recovery teams along the 300++km long route?
