Sunday Times:
Doug Ellis's Aston Villa are on the brink of a £64.4m takeover by £1bn property company the Comer Homes Group, owned by Irish brothers Brian and Luke Comer. The deal is said to be in advanced stages and could be sealed as early as Wednesday. The the new owners have pledged to plough 20% of the group's yearly profits into the Birmingham club's squad and stadium. That should give Villa a minimum of £20m a season. The frontman for the consortium is Michael Neville, a Solihull-based businessman and lifelong Villa supporter, who will be responsible for the day-to-day running as executive chairman, with octogenarian Ellis staying on in a non-executive capacity.
