The MediaCorp Radio-Subaru endurance challenge is back!!!!!
But this year, contestants will be competing in pairs. And the prize is even sweeter - the winning team will walk away with two Subaru Imprezas, each worth $60,000 without COE.
Both contestants in a team can be a family member, a friend or a colleague. Any team of two, above 18 years old are eligible to take part in the competition which starts on 5 November.
The first round of call-in qualifications will take off in October across three MediaCorp Radio stations - Gold 90.5FM, Class 95FM and 987FM. At the end of four weeks, 960 teams will qualify for a lucky draw to be conducted on the opening day of the Subaru Challenge at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza.
The final 220 teams will have to stand hours on their feet, battling exhaustion, hunger and thirst. They will be given 5-minute breaks every six hours.
Both members of the same team will be positioned just across each other, with both their palms on the same car. So team partners can certainly motivate each other and try their very best to set a personal record, together.
Bernard Lim, general manager of MediaCorp Radio's English programming, said: "With the added pressure, you are only as good as your weaker partner. Therefore, we're going to have a lot of drama, people will be fighting, quarrelling, trying to encourage each other and that will add a new twist to the competition."
The stakes have also been upped.
Each of the 10 cars will be accommodating 44 contestants, 14 more than last year.
Glenn Tan, CEO of Motor Image Enterprises, said: "In order to fit 44 in, I have to kind of move it around to get the arrangement we wanted. The rear boot is the most difficult because the palms are inverted."
