Anime: Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (TV)

  i have finished downloeding episode 3 from Conclave & Mendoi. but the problem is they only have it in .mkv format.
  
  my VLC player can't seems to play the file. guess my comp is too old and slow.
  
  my windows media player classic alsocan't seems to play the file as well.

  You can probably try to download and get the FDDshow codec pack, because my WMP classic can now play most of the video format including MKV.

  do i really need need to download anymore codec?
  
  i already have the Combined_Community_Codec_Pack.

  frankly speaking i'm quite fed up after so many hours finding the correct palyer to play the .mkv file. i don't know how many times my old computer hangs and i have to restart it over and over again.
  
  i'm able to play it at my new computer using VLC 0.8.6 but not at my old com.
  
  i give up.

  the only reason why, you can't view mkv with vlc, because vlc has problem already, i would suggest that, you uninstall vlc player, and stick with mpc and then you get real alternative,
  
  video player will clash with one another.....
  
  never ever install real player together with real alternative or it will clash
  
  CCCP is all you need, most of the time, you will only use FFDshow and all the filters, just make sure you have all the filters will do
  
  i suspect it is your player, because alot of people have been complaining about vlc cannot open up mkv
  
  or look for gom player

  Funny, i remember the older versions of VLC being able to play .mkv files without much of a problem.

  Me using Lazy Man's MKV + Storm Codec + Xvid...and MPC. And that about allows me to read almost all file formats....

  i heard that .mkv is of better quality graphically.
  
  i downloaded both in high resolution and did a compare. .mkv seems sharper.
  
  i don't know whether are my eyes playing tricks on me so will like to get opinions from u guys.

  mkv is of better quality but eats up alot of space, i don't like mkv version at all, because if i keep mkv version, 1TG hard disk will not be enough de, and i will format all the avi to other format, unless there are no other version already, then i keep mkv version

  Well MKV is definitely have better quality than AVI. And yeah, MKV usually have larger file than AVI, but I know that there are some stuffs you can do on MKV that AVI cant. like you can input different dub language in it.
