The focus is now more on basics, and teaching in smaller groups. Not just so, how to teach less and learn more. Nice concept, but isn't going very well. Sometimes, creativity is not the answer to teaching.Originally posted by rainee:how has it changed?

some try too hard to be 'clever' with too many improbably twists..
i like a straightforward book
Yeah... but rote learning.... haizz... we are a product of it. I think RP forum is just a great example. Rote learning should be used as the last resort...Originally posted by rainee:haha yea...cos trying to prevent teachers from spoon feeding the students. but some students if you dun make them do rote learning, they will not learn.
all the creative stuff in classroom is okie once in a while to make the lessons fun, but i tink most of the learning process should still consist of teachers guiding the students to understand rather than letting the students drowning on their own![]()
Dont we all. he he.~ faced with uncertainties almost everyday. So just take it as it goes n enjoy day to day~Originally posted by rainee:yea and i hate uncertainties![]()

I don't think there's guidance in schools here, more of spoon-feeding. Students here drown once they get out of secondary schools, because that's called guidance.
But well... 10 years of education is so deeply rooted... want to change also hard. Unless we start guiding them from young, rather than spoon-feeding. Still a long way to go..

It depends on my mood i guess. If I am in a mood for light reading, I will pick up chick lit or some light romance books. If I am in a mood to puzzle and mull over things, I will pick up those mystery and thriller books![]()
haha yea, very hard to change. Not that many students adapt well to creative learning. And if just leave them to do things on their own, they just won't do or tell you they dunno how to doOriginally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Yeah... but rote learning.... haizz... we are a product of it. I like this japanese author called Banana Yoshimoto? For Asian writers, I think Amy Tan is not bad as wellOriginally posted by the Bear:i like Murakami books.. they're quirky and sometimes totally outlandish... but with some thought, they are very down-to-earth..
