Increases pedalling efficiency and gives us better reasons not-to-lend-our-bikes-to-the-guy-who-claims-his-girlfriend-needs-to-go-to-the-toilet-urgently-at-ecp.
It makes a good conversation piece for non-bikers and bikers to mix too, the "wheres the pedal?

thing about those pedals is that you have to wear that pair of cycle shoes to cycle properly..
i'll stick to my normal pedals
actually, i'd want straps on mine.. they don't have.. but then, it's a "downhill" bike.. -
Also good for stamping markings on stupid driver's cars.
Though i think not many people would do that.

If its those downhill bikes those supermarkets, i wouldn't dare to take em off-road much less thrash them. the last bike i got from those supermarts is now in bad condition, twisted front dee, chainring cover broke off, handlebar misaligned and the wheels are like potato chips.
Thats why i salute those people going offroad with bikes like those.
