  why you use this instead of that.. what are the first principles.. the "why"..
  
  sort of like Calculus.. is basically the change of one vs the change of the other variable.. then you need to use that to your advantage in order to find things...
  
  same goes with trigonometry.. go back to your first principles and see how the angles relate to the lengths of each side of the polygon..
