Internships?

Heys all!
Just need to ask regarding internships...do u usually do internships in the COMPANY you wish to go into, or do internships in the FIELD u wish to go into?
And...how would you know if the internship can be done with your abilities? Some of the internships available, though seemingly for my level of education, cover a range of topics which seemed just slightly outta the scope I am already exposed to

Do internships in the field that you're interested in.
Send lots and lots of resumes to all those companies in that field.
Don't worry about doing something slightly out of your depth.... one of the purposes of going for an internship is to learn on the job anyway.

Heck, you may end up learning things which your other classmates may not learn... and this may help you in the future when you start your career.
Even if you don't work in R&D in the future... it surely wouldn't hurt to have a working knowledge of how things go in that department. -

Well I guess I will learn things, but the topic is sorta not covered...but then again I guess an Engineering degree cant cover all huh...
