These are what was discussed..according to Cheesecak(Tomorrow.SG).
"the admin gave some reasons for the increase in school fees.
1. the recent nus ranking (19th in THES)
2. the need to raise the standard
3. increase operating cost

I will be very pissed off if they do pull off another one of these hikes, but I won't be surprised at all, either. There's nothing more they can do to surprise me.

Right now I just want to get my B.Eng (Mechanical) and buzz off from that place. -

It's not a matter of affordability, and I definitely can feel for those whom every cent counts. It's the whole system behind it, and if they can hold a closed-door forum for student leaders(what a fat joke) and not with us, what does that tell you?
It tells me that a decision has been made and we are left out because they know we will definitely oppose it. So what do they do to maintain this fake appearence of care and concern, they hold a private forum.
Like I've said time and time again, if you are in NUSSU and you have failed to translate our collective NO to the administration, time to quit. -

imo, fees hike are now are certainty like taxes every year. At least the gov limits it to a max of 5% of the fees. -

Well, to be fair to NUSSU, they were also kept completely in the dark over the last round of tuition fee hikes. What did they do? Nothing much, not even a walkout, nor a collective resignation. Now that would send a ripple around the pond. It's time these adminstrators run this place with a little more decency.
I do not take kindly to our money subsidising useless amenities and God knows how many lacklustre foreign students. The money saved could have allowed proportionally smarter students fresh from NS to come in.
And the government has the cheek to talk of belonging and what rubbish. Let's face it, never put scholars and lawyers in government, because all they know is technocracy. -

When I first entered in August 2004, I paid $5600 per year.
In August 2005, I was made to pay $5900 per year.
Earlier this year, they increased it to $6110 per year! -
