Too many hostels now...their goal (apparently) is to have each graduate stay in hostel before (or smth like dat...)
They have like 17 halls now? Or am I mistakened?
I like Hall 16....got aircon @ cheap cheap rate!

i have always wondered... so what if you do not need cca pts to stay hall? so what if activities are reduced in hall? isn't good for everyone. no need to waste time and money on those stupid self serving prom parties, and unnecessary crap.. i just feel that if u have the money to stay in hostel, u should not be obligated to obtain cca pts by participating in those hall activites. if the students themselves want to be active, they should be active, they do not need cca pts to push them to take part in anything. im glad ntu is taking away this pt systems. students now can stay in hall and have the freedom not to take part in those so called hall activities, which are often time consuming, and not exactly very enriching.
ppl argued that without point system, no one will be willing to take up those 'sai kang' duties which are necessary for events or programmes to be conducted. if no one is willing to do this 'sai kang', then cancel the programme altogether! what's the big deal??! -
If points are of importance, u think enough ppl to fill up the many halls they have around them meh?

only stayed 1 night out of my 4 years there.. tompang a friends room study overnight during year 1 i think.. should experience when year 1 or 2.. -
i think staying hall is good, and of coz also should have some hall activities like inter-hall games. those are okie... it's just becoz u need cca pts to stay hall, the jcrc ppl tries to squeeze out all kinds of activities so as to generate cca pts, and u end up having alot of unnecessary activities.
taking away pt system is good, so as to reduce useless events. and u can stay hall and participate in some activites without overloading urself to get cca points. -
i guess more like final yr students want to be near sch and be "solitary" when studying for exams bah....

i agree they should give priority for final year students n foreigners. final year students due to heavy burden of studies n FYP.
a hall is to get a place to rest n sleep. not for those student leaders to have any monkey business regarding cca matters n their so-called hall life dat affect n disturb others' sleep. -

i tried to take part in cca in school, went for the recruitment of 2 ccas, but was never selected as there's limits to the amt of ppl they can take in. thus only the chio bus and yan daos get selected. ugly ppl like me with my ass on my head dont even stand a chance. since then, i have learnt that uni ccas and activities are crap. they dont look at the majority interests of students. hehee

Hmm....NTU at least saw the point in doing so...NUS should, but....not enough halls for all. So...until NUS has enough rooms for occupancy demands, I do not foresee a change in administration regulations regarding hall stays.
In fact, the bar for hall staying has increased tremendously...like it used to take a pt or 2 to get into residences, and 40 pts into halls, it has been seriously upped...
