Singapore International Film Festival will unfurl April 12th with ‘Singapore Dreaming’, a new film by Singapore’s only husband-and-wife writing-producing-directing team, Woo Yen Yen & Colin Goh.
Produced by Woffles Wu and 5C, the movie is a poignant, yet darkly humorous story about a typical Singaporean family coming to grips with their aspirations, it weaves a layered and moving tale about a family dealing with loss, ambition and the search for what really matters in life.
According to producer Wu, “I can’t wait for people to see this film! When I first saw the script, I was bowled over by the accuracy with which Singaporean family life is depicted – our hopes, aspirations, fears and frustrations. I could see so much of my own family, especially my grandparents, in the story."
‘Singapore Dreaming’ was the first film produced under the Film in Singapore! Scheme.
Backed by a US $6.2 million fund, the Scheme is aimed at encouraging leading international filmmakers and broadcasters to shoot and produce movies, television programs and music videos in Singapore. The scheme subsidizes up to 50 per cent of the expenses incurred by international film companies during their shoots in Singapore.
Singapore International Film Festival runs April 13 – 29, 2006
