I remember last semester when the time came to register for tutorials. The server simply couldn't take the stress. They had to keep pushing the deadline back several times.
Sure, part of the blame can be placed on numbskulls who somehow think that they need to rush to bid for modules. In the first place, though, the server itself out to be able to handle a few thousand logins all at once. -

poor students have to camp outside the tutor's office
the morning itself the tutor will come and paste the tutorial slot sheet on the door and students will rush up to write their name on the slots to get the placement.....
after tt come the online system....
first come first serve
8am ppl oredi fill up the computer rooms.......once it hits 10am, server jam.......everything logging in to snatch slots.....
then revamp...become "lucky draw"....
u lucky u will get the slot, if not, pls try again next sem
after tt then become bidding system -

There are still something like 100++ places for the module I want, and the lowest bid is one point.
