My fren's surname is Leang while the rest of her siblings r Leong.
Another a spelling error by the pple @ the registry of birth. -
same here.. my grandfather (paternal) surname is Yei, and one or two of my aunts also used Yei, but the rest including me, uses "Yeow".. also, i reme,ber when i was still a small kid, i used "Yao" (original hokkien dialect name), but dun know why i now is "Yeow", and not remained as "Yao".
anyone has the same situation?
also, in another instance, when in 1993/1994, ppl had to changed to those new ICs. my dad middle name is Chwee (Shui3 or water) but the CC woman changed it to xiao3 (small) and when the thing was done and the mistake was spotted, the woman actually dared to ask my dad if he wants the xiao3 (wrong word) IC.. guess the reaction..
