according to story nan di yi yang zhi can counter the xi du. den zhong shentong is suppose to b zhou botong shi shu. zxt n the gu mu pai clan leader suppose to like each other but dunno y the r not together.

I've read almost all his wu xia novels but my favourite is still 'xiao ao jiang hu'. The story is still vivid in my mind though it has been 8 years since i read it... dong fang bu bai, bi xie jian fa, ren ying ying etc... think i finished the 4 books in 2 days.

Wow, this is the first time I've seen all eighteen moves of the dragon subduing palms listed.
Anyways, the Dragon Subduing Palms are very powerful martial arts but by the time of the Legend of the Condor Heroes, 9 of the 18 moves had already been lost. Greatly decreasing its power.
What I like about Jin Yong's Novels is the subtle links throughout his novels.
Like the Solitute Nine Swordsplay. Apparently, Lin Hu Chong mastered the first 8 of the moves, which emphasized on form, enabling him to "break" all forms of weapons (reminds me of those knights from Final Fantasy Tactics.) but Yang Guo mastered his final technique which forgoes form for power.
And of course we all know that the Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre are actually melted down versions of Yang Guo's original "heavy" sword. -

The Legend of the Condor Heroes? i thought that's when the Dragon Subduing Palm first came out? that's when Hong Qi Gong taught the skill to Guo Jing, right? the 3D animation of this Solitute Nine Swordsplay very nice one.
got 9 transparent crystal swords charging together with a 3D transparent tiger side-to-side, all in 3D angle here and there. somemore the background is dark-bluish one, shiok ah!
also, that Dong Fang Bu Bai, despite being the last villain, is no match at all for the Solitute Nine Swordsplay.

by the way, Yang Guo learnt his best swordplays from this guy's ancient writings in a cave, right? that guy is Du Gu Qiu Bai......he got one verse which says something like "i've been searching my whole life trying to find a worth opponent"........this guy is really invincible, eh? -

zhou bo tong, who came with wang zhong yang to the palace, falls in love with the emperor's concubine. while the emperor is practising his skills with wang zhong yang, zhou bo tong and yin du has an affair and in the end, yin du gave birth to zhou bo tong's son. zhou bo tong didn't knew that he has a son.
one day, a villian, the evil "tie sa zhang" clan leader injured the baby. yin du seeks the emperor for help and the emperor soon finds out that the baby belongs to zhou bo tong. he refuses to save the baby after knowing the truth. yin du upoon seeing this, kills her own baby in order to ease her baby's suffering and swore revenge to kill the emperor one day as he mercilessly refuses to save her baby.
the emperor full of gulit, went to becomes a monk. and u know what's the funny thing is. the "tie sa zhang" clan leader who killed the baby later becomes nan di's disciple, in an effort to mend all his wrong doing. -

this Wang Zhong Yang didn't even have any famous skill right?
Bei Gai got the dragon-subduing palms, Dong Xie got the Luoying ShenJian Palm etc..... -

Any of u guys read she diao ying xiong zhuan qian zhuang (prelude).
I brought this a long time ago,this is the book that talk about the 5 top pugilist,nan di,bei gai,dong xie,xi du,zhong shen tong.Their story and how they get their skills etc etc.
Thou the book attribute the author to Jin Yong.I was told later that it was actually someone else who wrote it and got permission from Jin Yong to publish under his name.Up till now,i m still not sure if this is true.
But one thing i have to admit is that the standard of writting for this one is not that up to standard.I stopped reading after the first book maybe because of the way it describe the 5 person's story,abit too Exaggerated -

Infact this is not the only skill that lost its heritage.Yi Yang Zi skill was actually a part of Liu Mai Shen Jian in Tian Long Ba Bu too.But during the period of Legend of the Condor Heroes,only Yi Yang Zi skill remain.Even Liu Mai Shen jian by itself it very difficult to learn and even at Tian Long Ba Bu era,it was nearly lost as no one can effectively learn and use all Liu (six)mai together at the same time until Duan yu (Ancestor of Nan Di) out of luck learned bei ming shen gong and sucked the internal strength of quite a few highly skill pugilist and used it as his own and thus enabling him to have the extreme high internal strength needed to learn the skill.Yi Yang Zi is one of the six mai.Thus even more of this skill was lost as compared to dragon subduing palm. -

Zhang Wu Ji for his skills in Jiu Yang Shen Gong,Qian Kun Da Nuo Yi and Tai Ji Jian.
It is like he is a more complete warrior,having both yang gang skill (Jiu ysg) and also yin rou skill (Qian Kun,Tai Ji) together in one body. -

Agree on Duan yu,but duan yu only had the potential since he learnt his skills by luck,not interested in using them and his skill sometimes can and sometimes cannot come out.
Du gu qiu bai,yup a legendary figure but nothing really much was mentioned on this character apart from what skills he left to later people.
Xiao yao zi,hmm my memory is failing me,was he the one who founded Gu Mu pai? -

But guo jing's xiang long is likely not to be as good as qiao feng since i think i also remember that at his era,he did not managed to learn the full version of it already as some part already lost and not passed down
But if guo jing has jiu yin zhen jing and a half xiang long,wonder how it will do against a full xiang long. -
