isn't it annoying when u are shopping inside a shop, looking at the goods by yourself when suddenly this shop assistant came up to u and said "May I help you?" i don't know about you guys/girls but i find this very annoying. if i wanted help, i would go look for u.
take for instance yesterday i was inside a shop at funan looking at a game. i was engrossed reading the back of the box when this stupid guy pop up and said "May I help you?". i was surprised (when u are immersed in doing something and suddenly someone speaks to u that kind of suprise) and frustrated too. can't that guy see that i'm reading the box, why must he disturb my reading? and just what kind of help can he give me at that point of time i wonder?
another example is when u are inside a shop, and the shop assistant kept following u where ever u go, how to do your shopping when there's this person who kept watching over you. -
is it a gesture to tell u "Sir, u r not allow to read...buy it or leave it" wahahhaha

i hate that too ..... stop asking me "can i help u" ...
if i really need help ... I will go to the shop assistant stop bugging me
another type of shop assistant I hate are those that keep following you ....
I will juz walk out of the shop ... i find it very uncomfortable -
sumtimes they are not watching u, some of them really wanna provide good customer service
sum people like me, will be irked if no shop assistant come approach me to help... -

I think nothing is wrong with that,customer service

i worked part time as a shop assistant for fujitsu before.so we are supposed to help the customers to choose their type of computers and to direct them to their specific types.

its annoying...i usually say "Im just browsing" or say something like "What you think of this game? What you recommend?" then just walk away
feel so pressured.Why cant we just shop in a relax and at our own pace? -

They are just taking the initiative I guess.

I realise that some of the sales assts, on seeing angmohs going into the shop, will assist them more than the average Singaporean entering the shop. Any such observations?
Once I was at this shop, there were like 4 shoppers inside already, with 1 being an angmoh. There were only 2 sales assts, and there was a personalised 1 to 1 talk between the customer and the sales assts. The other 3 were Singaporeans browsing around the shop, and not assisted.
So in any case, Singaporeans prefer to be left alone to shop unless they require help...? -

those shop assistant should really learn to observe the customers' faces/actions and guess what the customer is thinking, whether they needed help or is just looking around. so as to avoid been annoying.

blame the company that don't give the poor sales staff training n not the poor guy/gals. experience n trained sales personal will not ask "may i help you?" but will approach the prospects in another way.
