Laplink has officially released its Vista-compatible version of
PCmover, the migration utility which automatically moves programs, data files and settings from an old PC to a new PC.
The company is hoping to cash in on the promise of a better operating system which will lead many consumers to purchase a new PC in the coming months and move the software, files and system settings to the new machine.
"With each generation of new PCs, the set-up task is becoming more complicated and time consuming," said Emir Aboulhosn, vice president of global marketing communications at Laplink.
"Not that long ago, only a few applications had to be reinstalled and some critical data transferred. Consumers now have dozens of applications to move as well as photos, music, financial records, email and more.
"PCmover moves everything from the old PC to the new one, and relieves consumers of a major hassle."
Users of PCmover can migrate from a PC running Windows 95 or any later version to any other version of Windows, including Vista, and even supports Macs running Parallels or Apple's Boot Camp.
The Vista compatible version of PCmover is available today starting at $49.95.
