Sony has announced that the
PlayStation 3 will be launched in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia on 23 March at a price of €599 (£425).
Only the 60GB model will be available at first, with the 20GB model to follow later in the year depending on demand.
Learning a lesson from the rocky US and Asian launch, an expected one million PlayStation 3 units will be made available during the initial launch period in the European, African and Middle Eastern territories.
Sony also announced a launch line-up of over 30 games for its next-gen console, including Resistance: Fall of Man, MotorStorm, Genji: Days of the Blade and Ridge Racer 7.
Third-party titles include Call of Duty 3, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Tony Hawks Project 8, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and F.E.A.R.
The
Sixaxis Wireless Controller will retail for €49.99, while the Blu-ray Disc Remote Control will cost €24.99.
