Commercial desktop Linux firm
Linspire and personal video recording firm
SageTV have teamed up to bring place shifting to the open source operating system.
The pair have developed
SageTV Media Center 6 for users of Linspire and
Freespire which lets users watch, pause and record TV programmes on desktop and living room Linux PCs.
The software offers a single user interface for accessing online video, as well as personal music, photos and videos stored on the PC.
SageTV Placeshifter also enables users to access home TV and entire PC-based media libraries on any internet-connected Linspire PC.
"SageTV Media Center for Linspire and Freespire users broadens our support for desktop Linux, and extends our reach into the rapidly growing desktop Linux market for the first time," said SageTV chief executive Mike Machado.
SageTV Media Center Version 6 is available immediately to
download for $79.95, or in combination with the optional Placeshifter licence for $99.95.
