Sables, also known as Martes zibellina, is a graceful carnivore of the weasel family, found in the forests of northern Asia and highly valued for its fine fur. The sable population is not threatened yet, so they are not in the endangered species list. However, the numbers are fast dwindling because they are vigorously hunted for the fur. A sable fur coat can fetch up to USD63,000.
Russia is taking measures to prevent sables from dying out.

Sables and ferrets are part of the weasel family; long slender body, short legs, small but they take on preys larger then themselves. In the wild, they are very fierce.
Sables can also be pets. They are Intelligent, agile, curious and full of energy.
