Yoz so happy to see so many pple interested in planting . Erm well as an advice for pple trying to grow plants , please don't squeeze too many into one pot bcos they need nutrients . And by combining so many plants together in one pot , they have to fight for it which is very unhealthy as some of them are bound to be undernourish . Actually there are ways to boost their growing speed that is by using commercial chemicals to make the soil release nutrients faster , but that will also cause the soil to lose their nutirents faster so you need to fertilize them more often. As for pple trying to grow cherry tomatoes , thsi plant need alot of space to grow and to grow roots so as to ensure enough nutrients and most impt in all plants , sunlight so that they will produce the cherry tomatoes . You need very strong sunlight for veggy type of plant otherwise it may not grow fruit and even if they grow , they will be smaller then normal .
i myself have tried growing many types of veggy plants for example ; hulu ( bottle gourd ) , japanese cucumber , corn , big and cherry tomatoes chilli padi , cauliflower , kang kong , tua cang , spearmint and currently cotton plant with much success all thanks from my old vege farmer advice . He taught me to use chicken manure as fertilizer and commercial chemicals , and most impt of all is the type of soil used . To grow veggies , black most soil is the best , don't use clay type those are meant for cactus .
Would appreciate it if someone could teach me how to put pictures into sg forums then i will show you all some of my plants . And by the way if anyone wants seeds for white carrot , red carrot , cotton , chilli padi very small type can contact me . i bought alot of seeds but n chance to use them cause not enuff sunlight to grow some of them . Veggies need alot of sunlight to grow , the best is direct sunlight from the sun esp for cauliflower , need more then 10hrs of direct sunlight to grow to market size and not to forget fertilizer . Chicken manure is the best if you find iut too smelly then if you drink tea or kopi , just throw the remaining leaves or residue into your flowerpot they are slow release organic fertilizer and when you wash rice , the white milky water is also good for your plants . My own flowerpot even have earthworms in them to help me aerate the soil . -

Nah i hope i have that space also lol . The fact is during my first full time job , i was posted to tengah airbase site office there to work , and from there in the course of my work i get to know an old vege farmer near the ntu whom taught me alot of things about growing veggies . And i grow all the tomato , corn , cauliflower and at the small patch of grass outside my office . The rest i grow them in rotating basis outside my house corridour in rotating basis which means after the certain plant has grown too big or no longer fruiting , i will cut it down , leave it empty for a few weeks then grow other plants agn so as to help eliminate pest . I read in the webby that by growing different plants alternatively helps to cut down on pest . As different pest prefer different plants .
Yes i do it all in sg , and i have seen tobacco plants by sheer luck . I gorw them for my own personal consumption which is not many . right now my cotton is growing its cotton buds , will burst into full bloom and become ready for picking around 1 more week Cos some buds are already very big . -

Hi asplash , yah me working , my grow this plant from seeds , but the cotton plant i growing now in my pot is actually a branch of the first plant that i planted which is the 1 in this picture , in other words , it is grown from the same seed that sprouted months ago but because my sisters kids broke the main stem when started to grow cotton buds . I took the stem that broke off to put into water for many months about half a year before it sprout roots from the broken stem .
Sorry about the huge pic but i don't know how to reduced the picture . i have many other pics to show but all is the same size , so perhaps someone can teach me how to reduce the size of the picture . -

The last catnip photo was at 8 wks, this one is at 9.5 wks (which was a wk ago), re-potted liao. Hope you can see this time.

for your info, i have bought new addition again....the yellow flowers, i have added into the pot same specy but its orange color and soon light purplish ones...
and the hibicus, i have added into the same pot peach color ones
and bought another yellow cute looking flower place infront of the hibicus...
try visualising .....
will update the pix when they 'settle down'

no mah....no need much time de.....only when transfer pot....other then that water only mah....less than five min before going out and coming back..settle le....
then if got abit of time...add fertilizer....nothing much need to be done...
unlike the fish tank....changing water/washing is a chore -

Photos that are too large take ages to load and distort the pc screen, so that we have to scroll left and right to read the post....inconvenient lah. -

I sorry I don't know what are those white bits, they were in the soil...maybe can ask when you next visit the nursery? BTW, I find the folks at AMK nursery ppl are quite helpful when I ask questions. -

but some plants they used red mud looking soil...
