The soil cannot be too muddy....best is the hoo hoo type (like bak hoo texture), and they need lots of sun. Used to have them at an old office window and they did well....but I realised too late that it's bad feng shui to have cactus in the office. Laughing

I grew them from packed seeds ....they came with the hoo hoo/mossy sprouting soil, but more than half failed to sprout...only got 2 normal, and 2 dwarf plants now. Laughing

Can we use fresh seeds? Why must dry leh?

Will need to re-pot the two 15cm ones into a bigger pot soon and place sticks (I used cut bamboo stems) to support...altho' they may not come to fruition coz my corridor got no sunlight and is darn windy. I wonder, can we just put the stick in while the plant is growing...like that will damage the roots? Question

BTW, several weeks' back, Sunday times reported on the young boy whom like gardening and have created a website on planting in local conditions. Does anyone know that website?

Most of the books on home gardening are written for temperate to cold climates, and their ' plant in spring, harvest in late-autumn' hardly applies to us. Laughing

don't know the name...those flowers (small ones) open in the morning closes in the evening....i like them but will also contact such bugs....twice i bought them....ended up all killed by the bugs...gave up! Confused

tho that dwarf one is 'oui lau buay tua', look equally nice to me....at least they don't look miserable like mine..

I bought the moss 'bak hu' during the weekend and mix with my 'slightly clayish soil' as a conditioner (per the info on the pack) ...

hope the plants will be growing better next few days!

ha...think i better not try the tomato...really no time and they don't seems tough enugh for me.... Laughing

I agree the tomato plant is too much trouble, and may not even see the fruit...think the tall ones may not survive for long, being placed by the kitchen window which is usually closed anyway. I have a pot of sweet basil and holy basil at the corridor, but they aren't doing well coz too windy (they've toppled over several times) and lack of sunlight.
