Demolishing old bridge
A section of the Silas Pearman Bridge in South Carolina was blown up with explosives on Tuesday. Along with the parallel Grace Memorial Bridge, it was closed in July when the eight-lane Ravenel Bridge opened to traffic, becoming the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. -- AP -

This family of Hamadryas baboons, including a three-week-old baby, are residents at the Prospect Park Zoo in Brooklyn, New York. Native to Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Yemen, Hamadryas baboon families are close-knit, interacting with each other far more frequently than other types of baboons. -- AP -
