Astronomers using two of NASA's most powerful telescopes said on September 27, 2005, they have detected a 'big baby' galaxy, vastly heavy for its young age and its location in the early universe. This is the deepest image of the universe ever made at optical and near-infrared wavelengths. At upper right, a blow-up of one small area of the HUDF is used to identify where the distant galaxy is located (inside green circle).
