The statues of Easter Island

Easter Day 1722. Admiral Roggeveen the Dutch explorer, lands on an unknown island in the Pacific Ocean. He steps ashore with his crew and a strange sight lies berfore their eyes. On the slopes of the island stand dozens of enormous statues, with hollow eyes long ears and pointed chins. In memory of the date, he names it Easter Island.

Records say that the first people arrived on easter Island around AD400. legend has it that there were 2 groups of people on the island: the Long Ears and the Short Ears. The Long Ears were the rich who made their ears grow long by hanging heavy weights in them. According to morden research, the exsisting Short Ears are Polyneians, like the inhabitants of other Pacific islands. One theory suggests that the Long Ears came from South America. Another theory suggest that the Long Ears were also Polynesians. -
That interesting. There maybe similar island with similar story.
What about how the christmas Island did once belong to Singapore.

it is believed the Short Ears rebelled, eventually, the Long Ears were defeated. Saw this documentary on Easter island.
People believed in ancestor worship, hence the huge face of the dead leaders. But to move these stones from the quarry need a lot of trees... something easter island lacked.
Easter island used to be covered with trees and a haven for migratory birds who will rest in the canopies of these trees. Easter island inhabitants diet consist of birds as food.
however to build these huge statues, the cut down all these trees... erosion resulting in bad harvest, no birds hence no meat, and no tree means they are stuck on the island. Mass famine, and war. The more they make these statues, they do not work. (sound like earth now...)
They managed to survive into another culture, some bird people culture away from the rest of the world. But by tat time, their population was already small from war and famine.
When the westerners arrived, they brought disease unknown to these people resulting them to die off.
Btw, these statues have white eyes on them. Scientist found out.
DNA studies found that they are closely related to the polyneisans. -
