Boy chokes to death on jumping fish
JITRA (KEDAH) - AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD boy died after choking on a small freshwater fish that he had saved from the frying pan.

In the tragic incident, the fish had jumped down his mouth, causing his mouth to bleed and cutting off his windpipe, the Harian Metro reported yesterday.
Samiun Ahmad, who was the third of four siblings, had refused to let his family cook the two small fishes he had caught from the Gunung Rambai river a few days ago.
He released the fish in a neighbour's concrete pond and had talked of rearing them.
On Monday afternoon, the boy's neighbour Aslinda Mohammad Salleh Khan was watching him play with the fish that was about 7cm long and 4cm wide.
She watched as the boy was holding the fish in his hands when it suddenly jumped into his mouth.
Within minutes, the shocked 39-year-old woman saw blood trickling down from his mouth.
She called out for Samiun's father Ahmad Johari who had just returned from work.
Mr Ahmad, a 43-year-old rubber tapper, said his son had clutched at his throat to try and get the fish out.
'The fish dove straight into his throat and he tried to yank it out, but to no avail,' he said.
'He tried to scream but could not. Then he became weaker and weaker and fainted on the way to the Jitra Hospital.'
He was confirmed dead when they arrived at the hospital, he said. -
