Melina Beach Resort
Midway between Paya and Genting, Melina Beach Resort has a lovely palm fringed little bay all for itself. Some big granite rocks interlard the fine sandy approx. 300m long beach. Unfortunately there are also a few rocks in the water, so watch out while swimming. The small resort is beautifully located in between the beach and the steeply rising jungle. Therefore some harmless monkeys are also regular visitors here. A Garman family who made their dream come true and expatriated to Tioman runs the resort. The 6 rooms in the large semi-detached chalets are furnished each with one double bed and one single bed. Additionally air condition and a very clean bathroom with hot shower. The restaurant serves a variety of German, Malay and Chinese food. Very kind and helpful owners. Pick-up service from Genting jetty can be arranged.

Genting Village
Genting is a village with numerous resorts, mosque, clinic and many restaurants. There is also a diving centre, a mini market and some small souvenir shops. Genting is a favourite destination of Chinese tourists and so there is Karaoke in the evening and Disco weekends. North of the jetty the first resorts are tightly packed between the short stretch of beach and the hill. Further up in the north the resorts are placed more apart and it is evidently quieter. Most of the resorts located at a hilly side thus illustrates a splendid sea view.

Nipah Village
Nipah is a small nice bay in the south of Tioman. There are only two small resorts, the beach and a creek. Nipah is the right beach for people, who want to get away from it all because there is not even a public telephone!
The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed, most of the travelers are backpackers who put up at Nipah Beach Chalets.
The second resort - Nipah Paradise - is primarily used for outings of a school in Singapore. Nevertheless you can try your luck, however the better choice is the very cozy Nipah Beach Chalets.
The nice owners also offer a two days trekking tour through the jungle to the peak of Gunung Kajang, the highest mountain in Tioman (1,038m).

Nipah Beach
In contrast to most other beaches in Tioman you can also swim here during low tide and the sand is more golden with a few black sand stripes. At the southern end right in front of the Nipah Paradise Resort a river flows into the sea, so that a beautiful lagoon was built. Unfortunately there are occasionally sand flies.

Mukut Village
Mukut is located in the very south of the island below the twin peaks of the Dragon Horn. Mukut doesn't have a very nice beach because most of the places are rocky, only in the very west and east of the bay is some sand.
But who wants to enjoy absolute tranquility, genuine nature and traditional village life is at the right place.
Furthermore Mukut is departure point for the climbing of the Dragon Horn and an hour trek to a nice waterfall, where you can take a refreshing bath. There are some small restaurants and four operating resorts in Mukut. A few resorts like the Tanjung Adventure for instance had to close due to lacking guests and are now deserted.

Juara Village
Juara village, about 2 kilometers away from the village, its strategic location promised to be the most peaceful and quiet place in Tioman Island for it happens to be the only resort there. At about 50 metres from the resort, a white water Mentawak River flows from Kajang mountain, the highest mountain in Tioman Island. Visitors will be able to feel the freshness and the coldness of the mountain, which cannot be found in any other part of this island.

Juara Beach
Juara is a wide semicircle shaped bay with a broad excellent sandy beach. The bay is bisected by a headland, the northern part with the jetty is more developed, the southern one with only two small resorts within 1 km is complete deserted. The last time when I was in Juara, I had the beach all for myself. Palms fringe both beaches, whereas the stretch right in front of Mizani's Place is the most beautiful.
Unfortunately there are sandflies occasionally at the beach, which can cause itchiness for days. The best snorkelling is around the rocks at the northern end of the beach, where you can find some reef sharks. Because the bay is facing the open South Chinese Sea the water is seldom smooth as glass, but only during the monsoon season from November to February the sea is very rough. -
Reggis Island
Renggis Island is located infront of Berjaya Tioman Resort. Only a few hundred meters from Berjaya jetty (lalang village). Average depth is 9m and max depth is 12m. This site is ideal for training and night dives. Teeming underwater marine life encircles the tiny island. Common fish species includes Barracuda, yellow tail, stingray, Angel, Buffalo fish and Famed moray eels. Harmless black tip sharks are often sighted.

Diving at Tioman Island
Perfect escape for snorkeling and diving at all levels of mastery. Come and experience the rare species of multi-colored fishes and coral reefs. Explore the treasure of the sea and you will get a splendid view of exotic marine life. Manta Rays and Whale shark can be seen in March, April and May. The main diving season is April to October. The best diving spot is around the smaller islands like Tulai, Chebeh, Bahara and Jahat. Most of the dive operators have their own house reefs.
Technical divers can explore the famous South China Sea wrecks. Name includes the Prince of Wales, the Repulse, Varella and many other exciting sub marines and battle ships. These famous wrecks found their final destination around Tioman during the second world war. Most of them are in water deeper than 40 meters.
When seeking for education in Open Water, Advanced or technical diving one should carefully evaluate the instructor, the certification agency endorsing the instructor and the dive centre. You must be confident with the reputation and experience of the training facility and the instructor you select. Be certain that the agency you go to is certified by the correct authorities and that they train you with the correct skills as well as how to response to emergencies.
On 22/6/02 and 1/7/02, a 6m whale shark was spotted at Jahat and also Soyah Island. The lucky divers from Scubashop, Genting and B&J, Salang just can't describe the best moment of their life. Just wonder when will I get lucky ....

Chebeh
Located at the North-west of Tioman and north of Tulai. Journey by boat about 20-30 minutes from Salang. Average depth is about 25m. Huge underwater volcanic rock envelope the isle. A labyrinth of colorful, exciting caves and tunnels a maze adventure. Napoleon fish, trigger fish and turtles abound. Some large pufferfish, angel fish, wrasse, moray eels, gobies, etc. There are lots of gorgonian sea fans, big Dendronephthya soft corals and some black coral. -

Teluk Kador (Kador bay)
Located at the Northeast of Tulai. Average depth is 20m and the maximum depth is about 23m. About 15-20 min from Salang village. You will be able to find various pelagic species as well as local reef fish. Numerous species of prolific marine life abound in the richness of this coral reef. -

Malang Rock
Located at the west of the northern end of Tioman. About 20-25 min from Salang village. Average depth is about 15m. This site is also good for snorkeling. A shallow coral reef transverses by sand channels full of sponges and an exquisite variety of fishes. Schools of Barracuda, large cuttlefish, yellow spotted stingray and leopard shark are often seen. Moon wrasse can also be seen. There are large patches of lettuse corals, sponges and very big soft coral in the swim through. -

Labas. Good spot to see Puffer fish, moray eels, sweet lips nudibranch, fan corals. These and more decorate the tunnels and caves along the foot of Labas.
