oic.. ok thx for d info..Originally posted by cornyfish2000:Haiz... cos apparantly their anglerfishes will only take live fish, and they believe that marine fishes are more nutritious than freshwater fishes when used as feeders.
Oh, clownfishes all start off life as males. Only as they mature, the biggest one will change into a female. So the advice is usually to keep a small group of clowns together when young, and one of them will develop into a female as they get older. Of course this is not very practical for home fishkeepers like us so an alternative is to purchase a known mated pair from the fish shop (which is definitely much more expensive).
It might not be very wise to just try to pair any 2 clowns together cos they might just kill each other if they are not a mated pair (this killing usually applies only to the Tomato Clown and the Maroon Clown). Even if non-mated pairs coexist peacefully they're unlikely to breed also.
As for how to tell the difference, i'm not very sure but i think the female fish tends to be bigger than the males.
Anyway i've seen clownfish eggs before... they are small orange translucent pearls, just like in the show Finding Nemo
Oh anemones are only necessary if u're planning to breed clownfishes... otherwise clownfishes can be kept just like any other fishes in the fish tank, w/o anemone or corals.Originally posted by BabyLover:oic.. ok thx for d info..
