Mourning the loss of 2 new gouramis

Yesterday found a dead silver gourami that i bought on sunday and this morning i awoke to find another dead silver gourami.
My heart ached whenever I see them just die like this though i only had them for a brief few days.
Strangely, i noted some very mysterious injuries on them bodies. I didnt document the first one but I did take some photos of the 2nd body.
Note the images may appear gory.
goramis are supposed to be non-violent arent they?

first time i heard of a 'gourami'.
how come the eyes are close? thot fish got no eyelid? -
i realise sum gouramis tend to fight when tog.
i think u can only kip one of each kind...
best u buy altog.. n put them in altog..

sorry to see that poor fishes
why they fight leh? i thought only fighting fish fights. -
Some guramis are hostile to other varieties of guramis.

If the books are to be believed, certain species of gouramis such as the Pearl Gourami are supposed to be tamer than the rest, and can even breed in your tank.
I used to keep 2 Yellow/Golden Gouramis too, one was extremely docile whilst the other was the nasty fella, chasing all the other fishes in the tank and biting the fins of my angelfishes as well as his fellow Gourami. I had to remove this nasty guy to prevent my other fishes from becoming mincemeat.. I placed him with a juvenile clarias walking catfish where he met his match and did not misbehave again.
