WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR SINGAPORE13 - 31 JANUARY 2007
ReviewA sudden increase of monsoon winds has again affected Singapore during the second week of January 2007. Above average rainfall was recorded over the whole island. The highest rainfall of 290 mm to 310 mm (240% to 260% above average) fell over northern and eastern parts of Singapore around Kranji and Seletar. Rainfall decreased towards the southwest of the island with the lowest rainfall of 160 mm to 190 mm (85% to 120% above average) recorded around Jurong.
Rainfall Distribution MapWeather Outlook for Next FortnightModerate Northeast Monsoon winds should continue to prevail for the remaining days of the month. Wet weather is likely to affect Singapore and the region initially, and becoming relatively dry and windy in the last week of the month.
During this outlook period, widespread moderate to heavy rain due to Northeast Monsoon surges is expected on 3 to 4 days. In addition, short-duration thundery showers, occurring mostly in the afternoon and early evening are also likely on 4 to 5 days.
With large amount of rain recorded in the first 10 days, rainfall for January 2007 is likely to be substantially above average for whole of Singapore.
