The 46th NPCC Annual Parade 2005 was successfully held on Saturday 23 April 2005. Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports was the Reviewing Officer.
The highlight of the Parade, the Marching Contingents comprised 2 Guard-of-Honour contingents, a Flag Party and 10 Supporting Contingents. As they march in, in unison to the applause of the crowd, the Guard of Honour in their impeccable and outstanding white No. 1 uniform and the Supporting Contingents in the well-pressed blue uniform, one can only feel a strong sense of pride being a member of the Corps. Their precise and well co-ordinated crisp drill moves and marching delighted the crowd of 2000 guests. The Guard-of-Honour contingents were made up of cadets from the 7 schools awarded the UOPA Gold Standard ? Cedar Girls? Secondary School, Hwa Chong Institution, Maris Stella High School, Marsiling Secondary School, New Town Secondary School, St Joseph?s Institution and Victoria School.
As the Parade moved on, Parade Commander A/ASP Tan Yaw Jin of Pierce Secondary School strong and clear voice came through the air, and the Parade presented arms Commandant NPCC, Ag Chairman NPCC Council, Dy Commissioner of Police and to the Reviewing Officer.
Reviewing Officer Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon then presented the Unit Overall Proficiency Gold Awards to the 7 winners and NPCC Unit Outstanding Achievement Award to 3 units, which have consistently achieved Gold standards over 5 consecutive years. They were Cedar Girls? Secondary School, St Joseph?s Institution and Victoria School.
The Advance in Review Order was next on the programme. An awe inspiring quiet prevailed as the crowd held their breath in anticipation and exploded into thunderous applause for the cadets? flawless execution.
In came the Toy soldiers, a splendid column of resplendent bright red uniform amidst loud cheers and applause of appreciation from the receptive crowd. They delighted the crowd with their lighthearted rendition of precision, arms and basic drill.
Singapore Police Force K-9 unit display was next. With the K-9 unit's display of its capability in Bomb detection and apprehension of criminal, the Parade came to fitting end.
The Parade was the culmination of months of hard work and perspiration. Kudos to all our officers and cadets for their effort in making the 46th NPCC Annual Parade a fitting finale as we held our last Parade in the Police Academy Parade Square, which has been home to past annual NPCC Day Parades. Next year, we look forward to putting up an even grander Parade in the new Law Enforcement Academy.
