F Takumi has been delivering tofu for his father since young, driving an AE86 (think it's a Toyota panda). Dunno how young. Unkown to F Takumi, his father has the intention of training his driving techniques. So he cannot spill a drop of water when delivering tofu in the curvy mountain pass of Akina.
Then dunno what happened, someone challenged F Takumi to a race while delivering tofu one morning. That aroused his interest in racing ever since...I think.
Hence the rest of the story only shows him racing against other racers. Slowly he gained reputation. Mostly focused on driving techniques like drifting, overtaking and driving with 1 hand *wink wink*
Then came the 2 rich brothers (dunno what name) to challenge F Takumi and lost subsequently. That started the Project D plan and roped in F Takumi to join. That is part IV...I didnt watch cuz the vcd came out very luan...and I hate luan things -
