I know Hougang Clubfit gym has instructor there on Sunday giving lesson.Originally posted by A Beautiful Mind:Saw an ad today that says no charge & free 6 months!! Any current users can share experiences? Is the plc good?
I'm currently training at Hougang gym, was wondering if Cali provide trainers & at what price.
hmmm....i not out to make $ but if need guidance/spotter, go to JE clubfitt gym on Sat/Sun...i will go but provided you pay the S$2.50 entry fee+2 bucks transport... cheap eh ?! the $ just enough to cover the expenses and i only make a few cents cos to and fro the busfare 1 dollar plus liao.Originally posted by gentlerock:Coming from California, its probably a scam. Don't trust it. Definitely some trick lah...maybe they ask you to pay for 1.5 years and give you membership for 2 years, etc. I don't believe they'll just let unlimited number of public go in for 6 months free of charge.
I've heard so many complaints about the place - too crowded and can't get machines, staff are very pushy and always try to sell you something, etc etc. Check with the person with the nickname "Care Bear". She had a slight experience with California recently. PM her or something.
By the way, personal training at gyms like California is S$70 per hour (in addition to your membership and other fees)....and you have to sign up for many sessions at the same time. Aiyah, if you wanna spend that kind of money, then Chunyong and I can teach you for S$50 per hour. Then you can have two trainers somemore. haha. We not qualified so we charge a bit less than ourside. Chunyong: we'll split $35/$15 (I take the bigger share).
Hey, I started doing weights about 20 years ago. Never had any personal trainers or anything (there weren't even proper big gyms at that time - and there were probably less than 10 personal trainers in this country during that time too). During those times, we just trained with friends, watched others and learn, read about it in mags, etc. Nowadays, you have the internet which is much easier. And in the end our bodies all turned out OK what - far from perfect lah, but still a bit better than average.
Try surfing the net for research...its quite a good source of information!
clubfitt gyms are ok, the things there quite good liao....value for $Originally posted by kops21:I know Hougang Clubfit gym has instructor there on Sunday giving lesson.

But mine's a idifferent story because [b]I like the girls there lah....so no choice.....got incentive mah.).

queueing time more than work out times then pointless liao...i dun like to queue...i rather go use other machine.Originally posted by lao_chio:I go to california regularly abt 2-3 times a week, normally the raffles branch. And yes, the place is extremely crowded on mon-thur nites with the after work gym goers. If you go like 7plus, u'll probably have to wait for lockers. And queuing for machines is a standard practice there too.
But if you go on friday nites or weekends, there're not many people. Orchard branch shd be ok too. Joining or not is a personal issue. Convenience is impt. Thou for me, I would travel down just for gym and back home. The staff there are very pushy when u're joining, but after that they normally don't bother you. (btw, free 6 mths there must be some catch lah). And ya, personal trainers are a waste of money if u ask me...
Clubfitt is cheap and good, but it can be crowded too. I chose to join california cos it has so many more types of machines.
One advice: if you're really joining, make sure u bargain hard. Don't pay like 80-90 a mth. You can get 40+ monthly only if you pay a lump sum for like 24-30 months.
how long u queue oso depends on what sort of person u are. Some people always paiseh don't dare to show that they're waiting, so have to wait longer. Some quite persistent will stand beside and stare at the person doing, so normally tat person will finish sooner.Originally posted by chunyong:queueing time more than work out times then pointless liao...i dun like to queue...i rather go use other machine.
got once a Gek Leng Gia-E* go use the machine when i go take my waterbreak...my towel still there. time i was away was lesser than 5 seconds....farking gek lengOriginally posted by lao_chio:how long u queue oso depends on what sort of person u are. personally i hate people who leave their towels on the machines and go elsewhere. but if really less than 5 sec then probably still ok... else not very considerate. for me as long as i walk away i'll take the towel alongOriginally posted by chunyong:got once a Gek Leng Gia-E* go use the machine when i go take my waterbreak...my towel still there. time i was away was lesser than 5 seconds....farking gek leng
i am selfish, dun like to share, especially with Gek Lengs-E/L.

actually, ppl pay for that amount of money u think go train? is to see chio bus mah.. u think ppl so stupid pay so much when they can pay peanuts for a local gym?Originally posted by chunyong:don't go to Planet Fitness or California gyms lah.....$$$$$$$$$$$$$. go those cheap ones like Sports Council one or CCs one.......
its not the gym dat matters, is wat u do there...
If it is left for a short period of time(less than 30sec), it is okay. If you left it there and go for different sets of weight training then it is very inconsiderate.Originally posted by lao_chio:personally i hate people who leave their towels on the machines and go elsewhere. but if really less than 5 sec then probably still ok... else not very considerate. for me as long as i walk away i'll take the towel along
no loh, some people go there is for networking and some is becos they work there and gyms are not near their houseOriginally posted by SGnewbie:actually, ppl pay for that amount of money u think go train? is to see chio bus mah.. u think ppl so stupid pay so much when they can pay peanuts for a local gym?

Wah, there is a lobby/living room with very nice furniture leh. And many instructors, all from India, I think. And they also have a class called yoga combat, which is something like boxing aerobics. And the classes are very big too....quite a bunch at a time, all ladies.
Have you joined already?
