  No way SMRT and CDG is going to merge, both are big enuf liao...merge smlj, merging is good for SME (small and medium enterprise) when there is an economic scale advantages and at the same time, able to find a niche against it competitors. So I believe, companies like Premier, Prime or even Trancab may find it more cost saving in merging, cost such as sharing same pump station, order same type of taxis in bigger bulk, same service station that eventually will cost less And of cos, cost in operation which ultimately will lead to a retrenchment, as manpower needed will be less after merging..so your ah Hua or ah Kau may get retrenched one hor CDG got DG behind, it is not comfort alone

Now they want to go back as one..you tell me, what are they trying to do??? play with TDs?? nabey, then why not go further back...let taxi driver own his or her taxis. Taxi driver buy own taxi under commercial COE< then pay by installment, then all these taxi companies can go back to concentrate on their other business..gum bo?

  today...a taxi buy in bulk with discount cost average 100,000k taxi rent out to a driver at average $130 per day, translate to averg $3,900 per month. If I initial downpaid 40k for the taxi, left with 60k at 1.88% interest over 5 years payment...you paid only averg $1,100 per month as installment..if add on insurance and road tax, the most you paid is only $2,000 max per month. If 2k is translate into 30 days rental, it is only $66 per day rental for a brand new cab. So now you know why taxi companies are reporting millions earn in profit. And if you get a partner to drive the other shift, it is only $33 per shift, 2 hrs driving during peak...smlj also earn back liao..tio bo? That is why, ownership of taxi is alway out of question.

  Knn, merge liao, which Towkay will want to step down and listen to another Towkay?....

  Good example of merging was last time Comfort and CityCab, it show that can work leh until today.....

  Can lah, if I paid the other towkay 50millions +20% with a designation as Independent Director, why not? But gentlemen, in business context, there is a different between merging and acquisition. Merging is more of joining or combine so as to grow bigger and tap on the economic of scale, most of the time, most of the time, the capacity of 2 or more companies, who seek for merging, are on equal footing and sizes. It can be, from a business perspective, seeking to be limited instead of pte, and end up at the stock exchange of singapore. Acquisition is simply acquiring the company, in simple term, buying it, either fully or as majority shareholder.
