Heard many part time drivers n retireer become uber x driver. Rental per day $50-60. Just drive peak hr 2-3 hrs cost recover. After that happy happy use car for free.

2-3hr breakeven is better than 5-6hr breakeven. of course, u dont want be stupid can stiill continue to drive to make more money. alternatively, u pay full price of a car + + coe + maintenace + insurance to own a car. if u dont like sell it at a loss. see who more stupid.

Ya lah. If private car you try changing every 2-3 years see lugi how much? I change 2 new taxi within a year and still make some money....If private car half year change? Think must tio big 4D then got chance.

For smart guy that still not aware how UberX is changing pax behaviour. How is it possible for private car without taxi licence and driver without taxi TDVL to fetch pax.
From the discussion, now the smart guy know that UberX part time driver does not use the car drive to KL.
With technology advancement, to take taxi, no need to go to the road and flag the taxi and dont know who is the driver. Now, the taxi can come to you and u know who is the driver.
UberX is becoming an alternative to taxi for both pax and driver. Yet the authority, taxi companies and NTA all still sleeping waiting for thing to happen.
If the authority not going to do anything, in 2 years time, when DT line become operation, less demand for taxi trip. UberX become an mature alternative for pax and driver taking significant share from converntional taxi. New player similar to UberX may join the industry. Taxi industry will become a mess.

If ho tan, he will switch from taxi hirer to UberX driver
That day while I was waiting at OMB taxi stand, saw this UberX driver came in asking the gurad is this place .....

My friend checked with Uber. He was told to convert his car to commercial, meaning not owned under private name. Then insurance will need to change too. I find it more troublesome than being a hirer. Unless really no choice you can't get TD licence. Just sharing no offence. -
If good, everyone will jump ship liao...first will be my ex chief, followed by his kakis,...ct...hammer...etc etc. In here, you dun need to know which is good or bad, just follow their movement, you will make a good choice, although they may sometime make a wrong decision like smlj radio calls...phuixxx. Anyway, drive for which teksi coy is almost the same as long you are hardworking, got hand and legs to keep driving, sure can earn a decent living.
When i say almost the same for teksi coy, not true also. eg, some pretty pax will ask you whether can accept nets bo. Of course, for me i sure say can. Pretty pax mah.

Just passed my tdvl on tues lucky 1 time all pass.Today went for basic service course with comfort sat mdt signed up with comfort on first day of course. Really dunno which cab to take so just go take the course first. Still deciding between silver k5 / trams cab Renault and i40. I don't mind going to either one I just want new cab not 2nd hand I am gonna be Omo first try and see how. Would have become relief but don't have a day job so looks like this gonna be my full time job am 31 years old now. I am looking at make this my career and I love driving don't have prob with Singapore roads and besides this job allows me to meet new ppl everyday. I don't wanna make mistake by joining the wrong company.
i have plans to buy a house in the coming future and need to apply pr for my wife and child they are malaysian. Please advise

Congrats. How many hours do u intend to drive everyday? Newbie start off as OMO is very siong. Most ppl start as relief and once they are comfortable, become hirer. Even then, they are not OMO. They have relief drivers. Unless u need the car to fetch wife and children.
All coy more or less the same. Comfort got more calls definitely, but U can join Grab, Easy, Uber and Hailo.
Not sure about PR for family, but as a taxi driver, not so easy. It is considered self employed and unsteady income with no CPF. Another consideration is whether ur wife has ever worked in Spore under a work permit. If so, then will also be more difficult to get PR. Good luck.

Thanks for the imput i am planning on driving from 6 am to 12noon the rest 5 pm to 1am plus / minus around that time la was previous owning own business in malaysia times went back lost everything so vome back here start fresh whole life self employed wanna work for ppl thay also dont wanna hire so become taxi driver lor my dad also used to taxi driver i know this job need alot of discipline beside i dont party anymore and dont gamble. My precious business i used to work 18hrs a day standing not sitting job. i heard some ppl say if join comfort next time wanna buy house easy cos they under govt true bo? then heard ppl say trans cab incentive very good every month take back from com around 700 plus if fufill all ciateria.
My questions maybe be stupid but better ask before too late.

Wah, stop 1 am then start 6 am, very siong lah. Standing 18 hrs and driving 18 hrs are two different things. Driving needs 101% concentration cos a lot of idiots on Spore roads. I got a friend do split shift like u, but he stop at 10pm. Hand over to relief. Sunday rest day.
Never heard join Comfort can buy house easy. I dun think got such a thing. Comfort only care about whether u can pay rental on time and got customer complain anot. Lol...

As what I can advice you bro sunny.
Drive 12 hours shift n 1 day off for family. This is the standard for driving taxi. Anything more than 12 hours , you are putting your life n health on danger.
Now you may not understand this. 3 months down the road. You will understand this trade. Money cannot earn finish , life n health is more important.

Drive taxi now is not easy.
Rental $134.
Fuel $30-$50
Total $164-$184 is basic u have to pay everyday when u drive. Off day not counted.
With this amount you need at least 6-8 hours just to cover expenses.
Most importantly driving taxi is about luck.
If u don't have luck , u need longer hours to cover.
If u are lucky that day , 4-6 hours can cover already.
