True, because beside TD, I also do many other jobs, last week downloading of new cars at west coast terminal, I also downloaded the new TC renault latitude, very chio, much better than epica.
So, for me, me only, when there are contracts, I will drive to finish the job, or return cab early to my hirer, because those contractual jobs are much more lucrative than TD, TD for me is got steering to hold, look for bak bak and also if no contract jobs like casket, shipyard or car downloading, at least got TD to fall back on..sometime, I few days never go home one hor.

Honestly I dont like the term obk, that is only true when there is a major crisis like SARS or the crash of 1997. (even the 2009 one not so killer).
So its all mental, work hard, drive smart, get rest, learn the ropes (yourself thru your own experiences daily) and have a proper attitude. At the most you'll get a 10-30% drop and only for short periods of say 1 week to 10 days (usually after Christmas)
Tell me if you work like any normal worker 8 hours solid (9 hours if include a break in between), you cannot make it?
8 hours means no fooling around, no unnecesarry lining up (like say if Changi airport got queue to PIE or very long), no stopping to sms/whatsapp/palringo etc, no relax one corner except during a break (you either take 1 hour straight or break it up into 4 x 15mins, 3 x 20 mins or 2x 30 mins). If you do this I fail to see how you can fail.
Of course you dont be dumb and drive aimlessly at Tuas after 10 or 11pm and similar areas, where got nobody). You always head to the source of pax, you dont be choosy, sit down one corner hoping for call or durian job. If wait for call also never more than 10 mins, if CBD cannot get, you go out and pick, even if its Tekka etc. Morning shift you dont skive between 6-9.30am. Evening 5 or 6 to 10 pm no nonsense. Why can obk?
And this I'm just referring to a system, never take into account luck. Sure luck can be bad sometimes, if 1 day screwed up doesn't mean everyday will. And if everyday lucky sure got unlucky day too. But these things even itself up.
Cannot be OBK one except just after Xmas (before NY's eve) and the first 10 or so days after Chap Goh Mei. Some ppl say World Cup business bad. But WC before I drive never a problem, and I go back to watch football also. Must know what time to come out and where to find.
To cut it short - just operate like CT2220, sure can succeed one, if you can match his attitude and work ethic.
You cannot blame them lah, TD are also business man, you go any shops or stalls in singapore and ask the boss, how is the business?? most will tell you, very cham, lots of work and earn peanut, very hard to earn a living and blah blah..but later go back in mercs and live in landed property.
Typically speaking, TD also same, if today earn $1 less than yesterday, it is consider OBK, even if pax ask? how is business, tia kong taxis earn lot..you will also said, no lah OBK, sometime have to throw rental, blah blah..you wouldn't tell pax, seibei ho tan, today I make $300 net,,blah blah rite?? Pax will natural think, knn seibei how lian, dun give tips, make sure he dun go wrong way.

in short, u need to know tricks of the trade, where to go and find pax
No need lah, just drive out of carpark, already got people liao, singapore is one of the more dense populated country in the world, per km sq, there are about 100 peoples, 20 drives, 60 take buses, mrt, walk, bicycle, company transport, left with 20 potential paxs taking taxis.
In our neighbour country like malaysia or indonesia, knn 50km sq also cannot find a single person leh...lols.
So base on this survey, we just need to look for this 20 potential paxs, and the probability of getting them also depend on the time, nos of taxi around that area, and weather condition, all these can change the scenarios.
For example, today is payday, slight drizziling, morning peak, 10% lesser taxi on the road around the area
