Correct. The licence will be suspended.
A lot of ppl mistakenly believe that as long as they have not hit 24 demerit points 2 years after their first offence, their total points will automatically be erased and reset to zero.
So, in the test question example, some may think that after 5 Jan 2012 which is 24 months after the first offence, the total 22 points accumulated would be reset to zero. Wrong. Because from 10 Dec 2010 until 5 Mar 2012, which is less than 24 months, the offender already accumulated 24 points.
But you rightly pointed out that there is an incentive. If you do not get any demerit points within any consecutive 12 month period, all your previous points will be erased and you start from zero again.
So, no need to wait 24 months. As long as for the next 12 months, no demerit points, then all previous points are erased.

The system now is easier than in the past which is the 2yrs erase dp policy.
As long as you remember your last offence date plus 12months free of dp then will erase. Else it will just add up to your existing points.
You have like kana minor offence like 3pts.. but if you keep getting within a yr... it will never be erase.

2nd jan 2013 3pts
1st jan 2014 3pts
30 dec 2014 3pts
29 dec 2015 3pts
You will still have 15pts since its not a full year of demerit points hence points accumulated.

I heard now TP is giving fuel vouchers for those who was noticed to have good driving habit, like give way, signal on time, give way to old people, ..So, now not only TP give you demerit, they also give you merits.

As for cert of merit (COM), you need to drive for 3 yrs free from demerit points.
And usually insurance company dont bother to check so you got to inform your agent that you got tp 5% discount.
So if you got 50% ncd + 5% com, its a 55% off your insurance premium
These few days I tried to drive slowly, obey all laws, but knn, those sonatas, mercs, i30, i40, epica and all other lanjiao ho li ka taxis keep cutting into my lanes for paxs, OBK big time.
Better forget about the merit, cb only $20 to $50 fuel voucher, but I lost out many potential pax.

Taxi got la, CDG give non-accident bonus quarterly, I think $50 if I still can remember, correct me if I'm wrong......
I dunno, taxi companies nowaday got all kind of pattern in motivation to their gain, then change here and there to lure hirer in, i only super relief

Motorists who install video-recording devices in their vehicles could get discounts on their motor insurance premiums.
This possible incentive is being studied by a working group formed by the Traffic Police and the General Insurance Association (GIA).
Both see the move as a way to encourage better behaviour on the road, Traffic Police Commander Cheang Keng Keong told The Straits Times this week.
