stomper must be a cha bor right...took it so personally. I think all this choosing of passengers is due to the system the cabbies are in. The system decides the behavioural culture of this trade.
Then again, I wished these cabbies would stop using the term "cheapo passengers" on others as these are the very same taxi drivers who are cheapos themselves.
i travel taxis quite regularly and hence disagree that cabbies are generally arrogant and rude. But I think 'picky' generally means they prefer to display the "On Call" sign along places and time when lots of people are queueing in the taxi stand desperately for a taxi. But this is human nature and common sense that they try to increase their day's takings by doing that. This is demand and supply. There are times when they can go round looking for pax but to no avail. And they got to pay their cab rental, diesel, face difficult traffic conditions such as jams, got no medical and annual leave benefits, cpf. If taxi drivers are really making good money and having good life, why not go and join them too?
