During the 2006 IMF Meeting ..... walan , we thought Singapore first time organised such big event .... business must be damn good , but lan sai , business for Suntec and Taxi damn jiat lak !!

We even go for IMF service course ... knn no use .

Day drivers must watch out for the Big One to be held inside Istana , only the likes of all presidents , they will only meet at Istana .
My xperience , orchard road will be close for sometime , for arrival of guest and departure of guest to and fro from Istana .
The rest CEO , their meeting at Suntec Conventions Centre .

Only Merc Cab and those Chrysler may have Corporate bookings ..... they oso dun earn much la , all voucher , like per trip $12 - $20 stuff , from City to city .
We normal taxis like support unit , need than call us , no need we dig nose .
Merc Cab and Chrysler are the commandos .

During 2006 , Airport is good ... for the IMF meetings , those reporters , banking officers came in .....
But amazingly , those delegates , they came , check-in hotel , next morning meeting , evening fly back .... most have no time for leisure really .

Cos Singaporeans will all know about this Apec thing , so they shunned places like Suntec , Bugis and City Hall area , they scared jam , so they stay put , but no jam one !!!
Taxi more than cars , but no paxes !!!!
Shopping areas quiet sia that time IMF 2006 , Suntec dead , Bugis jialat ....
I just got enuf mightmares during 2006 .
All those hoo-haa about IMF , all bull shit one ....

The delegates seldom shop ... they stay around Suntec ... eat at Suntec and Hotel , room service , than sleep . knn ....
I rarely see delegates at Clarke Quay or Boat Quay . This people during their stay here , i believe most still working at hotel more than relaxing outside of their hotel .

But i heard ... those families of the delegations , day time , some delegate's missus brought their kids to places like Zoo , Bird Park , Sentose etc .... a day trip , while their husband meeting .
So once in a while , day shift drivers will kena this short of extra trips .
Night shift drivers not much kang tao , except going to Airport , very common u stop at Hotel , next pax is Airport trip .

I think 6th November 2009 , Friday night , Airport Arrival will be damn busy ....
Saturday i think got chance to pick a few extras from Airport ...
Sunday will be the best for Airport !!!!!

15th is a Sunday .... meeting finished , i think Sunday is a rest & relax for those big shot , makan at Istana ......
But i also think Sunday midnight will have many to Airport .

Overall , i really dunno which trade benefitted from this sort of meetings .
Taxi for one , bo kang tao one , i would rather don't have such meeting held in Sgp .
If those carry garmen balls forumers who saw this articles , pls tell the garmen , don't spent $100m on something we taxi drivers dun benefit much .

Dear cabbies
Singapore is the host of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
meetings in 2009. The highlight of the meetings takes place during Leaders’
Week which will be held primarily at the Suntec Singapore International
Convention and Exhibition Centre from Sunday, 8 Nov to Saturday, 14 Nov
2009. Leaders’ Week will culminate with the Leaders’ Retreat at the Istana
from Saturday, 14 Nov to Sunday, 15 Nov 2009.
Appropriate security and traffic measures will be taken to minimise the
impact of the event on affected stakeholders and members of the public.
This includes the implementation of an APEC Lane to facilitate movement
between meeting venues.
The APEC Lane, which is the extreme right lane of affected roads, will be
demarcated by cones and water barriers. This lane will only be closed to
the public prior to and during the movement of APEC vehicles. Auxiliary
Police officers and Traffic Police officers will be deployed at the
affected roads to regulate traffic and direct motorists during the closure,
including those entering or leaving buildings along the APEC Lane. Aside
from the APEC lane, all the other lanes will continue to remain open to the
public.
To ensure that operations run smoothly during the event, there will be two
rehearsals prior to the event. These rehearsals will be held on Saturday, 5
Sep and Saturday, 31 Oct 2009. Please refer to the attachment for more
details。
