Today is the 1st day of Pamadan for Muslim .
Have a pleasant Ramadan to all our Muslims cabby counterparts !
During Ramadan period ....
Look out for Traffic jams at Geylang Serai , the nearer to Hari Raya , the more jam it is . ( for my past experiences )
Avoid if can ( not much demands anyway )
One plus point ...
Housing estates , will have durians drop from anywhere : " Uncle , Geylang Serai ."
That will be after their break fast around 7pm .... maybe after peak hour , then thye go Geylang .
During this period , we non-muslims will have a better time during peak hours , cos ..... cos the Ramadan break fast timing is usually at 7pm .....
They also need to wash up , for prayers , then eat their dinner .
By the time they start working , should be around 8pm plus ....
I am saying the muslims taxi drivers .
I would say , Sgp got 25% of the taxi drivers is malay .
I would not recommend drivers to Q around Geylang Serai , i even 100% don't recommend cabbies to grap their bookings ...
It's either their families got 5 members for a cab , or ...
Lots of marketing ... or
They go nearby , like Bedok Reservoir .
And .... u will have difficulty locating them .
Especially Q-ing at taxi stand twds Eunos side .... most likely they head to East area , many i would say , head to Bedok , and Reservoir side .
Those who stay far like Jurong , taxi will be their last alternatives .
And also we all know , nowdays ..... malays , many of them , owns a car , so ....
Today i forgotten is the beginning of Ramadan .... hey it makes a very big difference for us .
Above info is meant for evening drivers , day drivers ..... i dunno , same la perhaps .
Anyway , Uncle Poolman me never touch Geylang Serai at all , not into my " strategies " or "routes" .
Few reasons .... i want to grap CBD $3 ... CBD got many bookings ... Geylang Serai very easy kena Malay dominated HDB area like Yishun , Wlands , Bt Panjang etc ulu dead zones .
Instead of routing Sims Ave East , i'll go by PIEâ–ºCTE or Jalan Eunos â–º ECP .
So not affecting me ... still strategies must change a bit ... after 8pm , at Housing area , i will looked out for Malays ....
And lastly , always make a point to pax : " Miss ar , i hope u aware Geylang Serai a bit jam , hopefully it is not as bad as we had anticipate ."
"So how ? " they will usually ask , " If u want , i drop u at Singapore Post , u walk there , short distance only ? "
Or ..... "I drop u at Paya Lebar MRT station , then u walk across " .
Then u " Cash & Carry " one at Paya Lebar MRT ...hahahahaha
Paya Lebar MRT good chance got pax want to go by ECP via Tanjong Katong Road to anywhere , eg Telok Blangah ? Jalan Bt Merah ? West Coast ?
Hahahhah talk cock nia knn .
last evening the heat already started,I was there at geylang serai & saw alot of them flagging like mad for taxi....but like wat pool said most of them with big pack small pack, big group & going short distance..i confirm won't take them & hit nicoll hw straight better
