You may say it is easy, just tell the operator the road name, building name or the landmarks around us.But sometimes,we are at Neither here Nor there.
Eg,On 6 Aug morning just befoe 9am,due to MRT massive disruption,i was forced to call a cab from Jurong East MRT to my destination,Jurong Port Road.
I called Taxi company A,operator asked:"Your location?"My answer:"Bus stop at Boon Lay way just behind Jurong East Bus interchange."
Operator:"You cant say like that, you make people confuse only.,you just tell me the lamp post Number."
So i proceed to see the lamp post and told the lady lamp post Number."Lamp post Number 70".
In less than a min,she reply no cab, which i was expected.
I proceeded to call Taxi company B(Transcab),i told the operator lamp post number, she replied me i cant do that,so i repeated my exact location again(bus stop at Boon Lay way, behind Jurong East Bus Interchange),finally i got my cab in 5 mins time..
So my question here ,is there a best way to describe my location?
What is taxi company A?
and why not take 98
Late liao!I suppose to reach Jurong Port road at 9am,the time was 8.45 am and i just missed my company bus there,so no choice, have to take cab.
98 will take me 45 mins min.
say both lor... cos like dozen of lamppost marked the same number in sg lor...
i don't know lamp post also got address leh...
next time, when you book taxi might as well tell them your location coordinates at:
x: 103 degree, 44 minute, 33 second
y: 1 degree, 20 minute, 8.1 second
won't be wrong one.... the driver drive right to the spot of where you stand.....
haa....
== where got like dat de wad if people in toilet pangsai book taxi first how leh
lol i was jking
stick to transcab lor.

if she on a hill, can topo also
hmm dont know about you all but for me.. sometimes when i just call they know my location liaoz.. as if gps...
easy, just look for the bus stop number. sure got indicate on the signboards. should be B09 for the one you are talking about. check it out sometime.
pls give a more precise landmark .
Eg ....bus stop . Main road . Junction of XXXX Way / YYYYY Road .
sometimes the operator never input pax's info. i kena booking 200 Airport Road. wtf, look at the mdt's map, shows paya lebar airbase location. so go to car park drop-off point. nothing is the have! i suspected it was the saf mapping unit, so slowly proceed up the road. true enough, pax was waiting at the gates of the mapping unit. he said he already told the operator to indicate mapping unit. not the first time i got this type of pickup point description. call centre really must pull up their socks.

That's poolie coordinate ... xxx way / yyy road
The Transcab operator actually keyed in "Interchange behind Jurong East bus interchange" which i requested the Taxi driver to show me.
Luckily, the driver manage to locate me.
By the way,i just realised,i should say:Junction of Boon Lay Way and Jurong East Street 12.It should be clearer!
cos if i am that driver , upon reaching the junctions of XXX St 12 / YYY Road , i'll slow down ..... then look for you , the u'll oso looked out for me .
Easy easy ....
if booking put main road, unless i can reach within 2mins most likely won't take. 2 mins most likely means i intend to cruise there anyway. knn 5mins reach there guarantee pax gone already. then you are still stuck with the booking, contact call centre to cancel booking also ask 3 ask 4 then cancel for you. meantime you would've lost out on street hire or another booking. not worth the risk and wasted time & diesel to rush to a main road booking. sometimes even booking from condo also no-show. pax took another taxi which just happened to alight someone there. part & parcel of taking bookings. but i kena one angmoh lady before, balmoral park. 5 mins i reached there, just a left turn from balmoral road, ting...booking cancelled. i turned anyway and drove for another 50m, sure enough got one angmoh lady flagging my cab. knn cheap way to get taxi to come in but yet don't have to pay booking. i pressed "break" and u-turn without even looking at her. the cheapskate! another trick they use is to indicate destination on the booking details and then cancel the booking just as you are about to arrive. then they hail you and say their actual destination which is different from the booking. this way you won't suspect them mah. knn ingenious.
same antic i would use when i was a comfort driver .... this is to teach them a lesson . Don't suka suka call and cancell , we are not beggar , we can just BUSY and drive off . We won't just take anyone .
Usually it's those kia-su drivers spoil the market , then these commuters then used it regularly .
If they dare complaint , i would dare to take the punishments .
Yesterday Friday evening me TransCab also got call , i was at Suntec when a job at Raffles Link called ....
I reached .... 10 minutes NO SHOW ...
Then a lady flag , i never reject , but i just asked : " U going where ? "
" Penang Road Regency House ? "
Of course okay .... if same that on call customer to Balestier Road , i would say : " I am sorry , changing shift to Jurong " .
It depends , if no pax around the street , i will ask , again , better not ....
Like above, the most accurate description is your co-ordinates in latitude and longitude (X, Y of the planet).
Whether the cab company and driver can translate that and get to your exact spot is a different matter.
