Probably the only taxi driver in this world with a PhD from Stanford and a proven track record of scientific accomplishments, I have been forced out of my research job at the height of my scientific career, and unable to find another one, for reasons I can only describe as something "uniquely Singapore". As a result, I am driving taxi to make a living and writing these real life stories just to make the dull job a little more interesting. I hope that these stories are interesting to you too.

Seems that this Phd driver is from China and after teaching here for quite sometime, he convert to a sgp citizen.

Yeah. All you pathetic China PRCs. snatching the jobs of singaporeans. That cab that you're driving could have been for one singaporean out there that seriously need a job to maybe say, provide for his family.

I give kudos and thumbs-up to this scientist guy. At least one has to get on and do something rather than moaning, grumbling or make yourself screw-up in life.
4 years ago, i sat in a taxi driven by a guy lost his job in an airline and he was a scholar graduate sponsored by the airline in a prestigious U.K. university. Also armed with top MBA. This guy also drovee a Crown. He got retrenched.
Also sat in another taxi driven by a guy and look very well dress up like a boss in toyota crown. He was before a top executive managing a country club.
Many years back, newspaper interview an angmoh, an ex-commercial pilot driving a bus during chinese new year. That guy must be happy. Probably he is now in greener pastures.
Anyway FT also become localize with SGP pink card, they need a break like us. Don't you think our ancestor also came here probably as a "coolie FT" before independence?
He still write his research and a blog. haa...ha...if one of this day he stop writing the blog.....that means he is at the peak of turning point and get on with better pasture or otherwise "Da Cai Xiao Yong" 大��用
I'm sure he got his personal reasons to drive a taxi like most of the taxis forummers.

i'm not suprised anymore. the rest of you guys seen an ang moh security guard? sompah! there's (or was) one working at the condo Costa Del Sol. at first i thought he was a chinese with hair dyed blond. when he motioned for me to drive into costa, i had a clear look. yup no mistake, ang moh alright, in uniform somemore. maybe he's the supervisor. still...FT?

kctck, some pakistani and mid-east people also look angmoh. anyway still FT lah..but at least doing something and not expecting gahmen handout. Like Europe very high income tax due to social handouts to people lazy to work.

he probably has some unrevealed secret that made his scientific company force him out.

Maybe he did something illegial like cloning etc than he got banned from being a scientist.
Anyway his life story os interesting he should write a book and publish it can earn big bucks lor rather than writing in a blog

over at hwz side already got 2 other users say they know this guy personally.. so the credibility should be there..
and in one of the entries, he said he just published one of his last few papers, and link to the journal too..
but even if it's not true, it's still a good read, no?

So did the 2 of them who knows him say is it because he did something wrong or he have a bad record taht is why he can't find a research job?
