At Jalan Bukit Merah, straight road turning left into CTE...
My girlfriend p-plate, she is the driver.
We heading back towards Yishun, left lane, we driving quite slow around 70/h..
Just around maybe 200m +/- into turning into CTE, this merc cab driver didnt pa signal, from second lane cut into my lane, kena stun already, he knnbccb step brake to pick up a fucking passenger, my gf brake until my handphone flew into the back seat.
Sipeh tulan, i went down and stopped the passenger from boarding the cab, (Mind you, she's standing in front of the fucking fence facing the traffic), open the cab driver's door and i think the first thing i said is, "You know how to drive anot, asshole".
Guess what he did. He waited awhile for traffic to slow, he cant out from the cab, see car got kiss anot.
Then he look at our car, "you how old and p plate u dare to complain me. U see me coming into your lane means i picking up passenger, dont you know how to slow and change lane?
After that i really is sibeh tu lan i throw the cigarette which i just litted at him and he tried to grab me. I push him away, asked my gf to take down the plate number, and ask him wtf he want. he just scold and scold and scold and got into his car.
That chee bye still reverse his car like want to hit ours, before driving off. Got one uncle from the line of cars behind us came out just before his cab drove off, he angry with us la but after i told him what happened he want us to call taxi company + police.
Really hate this kind of fucking drivers..
Yes, i seen alot of taxi drivers that stop halfway without signalling.

Driving at 70/h is not considered slow for a p-plate liao. Often I see p-plate drivers driving even slower than that.
I understand from your situation why you are so tulan about it. Last time when I was p-plate also kenna my lane cut until song song by alot of drivers cos they "look down" on us. Somemore if (touch wood*) really accident, this incident may either become a terror for your gf whom will be afraid to drive on the road in future.
But generally, not just merc cab drivers are this arrogant. Merc drivers are damn arrogant too and think they own the road. But this applies to majority but not all I should say. Taxi drivers too, I've seen some taxi drivers who are road courteous which is why they attain awards.
For your case, I will agree with you on making a complain to the taxi company. Such drivers are a bad example to the taxi industry.
One thing to note is, u throw the litted cigarette at him which could get you into trouble as it's a form of physical contact which in the eyes of the law, both parties are wrong if there's pushing around no matter who started it. Hope you not so angry le la as I feel that the car is ok, your gf and your life is safe but just take it this is a bad experience.
Just give your feedback to the taxi company, hope that they will resolve this problem for you. By the way, the very last time I called before during an accident, the police tells me no need to call them unless there's injury in the accident and alot of other factors included. You may wish to call them to check just in case.
I really do hate this kind of fucking drivers too!

yah agree, merc drivers, whether taxi or private, tend to drive more aggressively, generally. of course there are good ones too, but not many. a reminder...on jalan bukit merah turning left into CTE, (means u just passed kim tian road on the left?) 70kmh is way too fast, even for experienced drivers. can't recall exactly but i think speed limit's 50kmh. but actual speed should be even lower since you'll be going into a filter lane joining main traffic. do ask yr gf to be careful, esp p plate the first 12 months must very very careful not to pickup any demerit points. dun speed cos uncle and his cameras are everywhere nowadays. not worth losing the licence just to gain a few more minutes. anyway as axel says, just feedback to the taxi coy.
btw, u mentioned "+/- 200m into turning into CTE". means the passenger is flagging taxis in the CTE itself? or issit just after the traffic lights at kim tian/jln bkt merah junction? if it is the former, yr complaint sure jalan one, if the latter...just remember to drive defensively and be prepared to stop.
poolie wants to go merc too. hope he's not a black sheep.
That is why you must be very alert.. Cab drivers dont care which company is the same. They will just cut infront of you to pick up passengers. They dont care for others. They only care for themselves. Too bad la... Complain no use de lah... The company dont care de... because these uncles borrow their cab at 100+ per cab per day... you think the company would go do something about this meh?
Just let it be a learning experience for you gf la...
wait till u see chrysler cabers
cab drivers - if they cut infront of you, the ONLY thing you can do is to do the same thing to them. cut them and tap ur brake.
no use going online and all. the only way to go about it is to do the same thing on them. if possible, within the first minute.
theres a need for judges to wipe out the stereotypic concept of 'who kiss who's butt is at fault'.

Sometimes all it needs is a little bit of grace and understanding from both parties. I don’t think it takes alot to wind down your window and wave a hand up by means of apology.
clap clap clap. so true but yet seems almost impossible for sg drivers to adopt this attitude. i ALWAYS wave to express my thanks when somebody gives way to me and raise my hand in apology when i have to cut into someone else's lane even when i signal way in advance. sadly, most times the gestures are not reciprocated. at most i think 3 in 10 sg drivers do so. sigh. many drivers will sound their horns, sometimes continuously when u signal to switch lanes. "get out of my way" seems to be the norm.
This kind of encounter everyday you can see on road.
who right? who wrong? at the end of the day who?.... suffer.
Only both side the innocent mothers the victim accusing by their son or daughter which encounter the cat-fight on each other who's? mistake...
that is smelly ccb word coming from their sibling... Why? is that so. Does this involved with both side mothers during this road encounter.
So please...dun put yourself infront of the public that you are the rear hero.

So...this already happen.
Than can you stop him for not doing it.
If ...the passenger never signal at that position, thing will never happen this way?
So that taxi driver as you curse him (knnbccb) step brake to pick up a fucking passenger, your gf brake until your handphone flew into the back seat.
So does his mother involved during this happening.
everyone must have tolerance la .....

There's still good Merc drivers who gave ways , who signalled their intentions , and practise road courtesy on the road .
I am not going to stop driving a Merc Cab because of such complaints . But at the moment , not yet decided .
Still in the end , if all road users practise more tolerance , all will be happy .
heavy braking causes handphone to fly forward not backward to the rear seat.

U try braking hard enough and see..
Alot of cabbies sibeh jia lat... agree got good ones but alot really is bad...
Today my sister when driving us to suntec also encounter some cabbie that aint gracious ..
not all merc cab drivers are rude to be honest, you know i took a merc cab and the guy was damn nice,he was talking very politely and stuff and was complaining abt fellow merc drivers stating their ignorance as a reason for hatred.
but majority of em ARE rude,my gf came to singapore from toronto for the first time and she didnt tell me at all she was coming ( she did tell my mom though ) cos was my 21st birthday last year and it was a surprise.anyway she happened to take a cab from airport and happened was a merc cab.
she tried to talk to e driver and she said he hardly replied,as they were on ecp benjamin sheares bridge, she asked him 'wow great view from here,is this the business hub for singapore' and e driver told her 'can u pls keep quiet i dont wanna talk to u'.she was stunned and just left speechless.and that was just e 2nd time she had talked to him.

you must have brake until the car jerked to a sudden stop. things got thrown forward and then hard backward.
graciousness and courtesyare generally not well presented by singaporeans. perhaps we have not evolve to show selflessness. take for example, the h1ni flu person who took cabs and mrt. he knows he has the virus so he booked into a hotel because he doesn't want to infect his family but he shown selfishness by taking public transport, 'other people can die but not him or his family'.
out of 10 ang mos I took as passengers, 8 would express grace and would say please and thank you.
out of 10 locals I am afraid there would only be 2 good enough to do so.

Must learn how to slow down generously and graciously whenever applicable.
Obviously you don't have friends who were heavily injured in a traffic accident.
Experience it once then come and tell me if your pride is worth risking your lives on the road or not.
