oh yeah forgot about the flora road part... reminds me of old jurong road... dun know left how many portions liao... taka to tamp take nicol means go thru orchard jam b4 reaching nicol... wau lan eh... and after nicol if need to take guilemard instead of KPE-PIE.... even more wau lan eh.... better to take another taxi lah.... haha

Who say flora road is old tampines road.
This pax is going to the white temple at Old Tampines Road.
Me also target flora, kenna screw by him. How many year are you driving, Old Tampines Road also you don't know.
From Hougang Ave 3 toward Tampines road, on the right is Paya Lebar Airbase. this road is old Tampines road.
Can you believe it. So i challenge him...than we drove from Hougang Ave 3 toward Tampines road yes... at half way the journey there is a big sign board clearly stated the sign show (OLD) Tampines Road.
Actually the white temple the raod is called Tampines Link.

ya lah old tampines road is disjointed one.... flora road area then Tamp IKEA to houg ave 3.... but recently the tamp IKEA stretch changed name to be tamp link.... i took the IKEA stretch a few times liao.... pax from tamp to houg like to take that road instead of TPE-KPE... but actually distance about the same... cos old tamp road need to be curve up due to paya airbase...

Back then....
Tampines Road starts from Upp Serangoon rd (Near the present Kovan Melody) then Old Tampines road starts from PL airbase all the way to Upp Changi rd near changi prison.
Since the construction of TPE & birth of Pasir Ris New town,most of this Old Tampines rd were "cut" into pieces
It is interesting to know part of Pasir ris new town were once part of Old Tampines rd
Who can still remember the present Flora rd used to be a fishing pond? And there was also a very old bus terminal at the end of this Old Tampines rd with bus 80 & 81 stopping there :)

My buddy Curtis used a GPS to drive .
He relied so much , without it , he can really struggle .
Once he drove me home after a coffee break .
Yeah it's good , u tell the machine CCK Ave 4 , he bring u there . Turn left turn right , all voice prompt !!
But ..... i personally seen it myself .
The machine before reached my destination , they actually response : " U reached your destination ! "
But wtf , we're still at the main road !!!!

There's this one time when pax has gps on phone. when I had stopped at pax's block the gps phone says turn right 50ms ahead.

hope is useful .... my advice to all soon-to-be cabby , rely too much on gps tech , might not improve too much to the familiarity of sgp's routes .
u try to use the conventional ways , if still cannot then gps , then u'll learn more this way .

gps is just the backup, i prefer the conventional way, use the brain first :)
the gps unit set me back $399 and the battery cant even last 2 hours, but if plug into the car charger then no problem

I seriously still believe in using my brain to navigate,keeps me young & not getting rusty lol
once my pax go T2 & using GPS,along airport boulevard the GPS show turn right to Ford Road!!! wtf

gps for FOREIGN places lah! SINGAPOREAN and taxi driver some more, what to say.
