Hi Seniors,
Would appreciate information on the schemes for reflief driver. Things like:
a. Taxi company.
b. One-day orientation (yes/no).
c. Security deposit amount, any installment and how much each installment.
d. Minimum rental day for relief.
e. Anything useful to know about.
Been surfing the various companies, but it dun say much.
Many thanks in advance.
If u haven't got any contact with any Comfort's or CityCab drivers , Comfort Customer Service WON'T give you any listing of hirer ... Unless u apply for a UOB account , then get a hirer to register you , from there , then u are allow to get the "Hirer looking for Relief" listing .
Security Deposit standard one , $1000 , some company , cold hard instalmentless $1k , like what Alvin had said , CityCab and Comfort can be instalment .
But again , deposit can be taken back , dun worry too much when joining a non-comfort/citycab taxi coy .
But if you go Comfort kisok , u actually can find hirer looking for relief listing , written one , on a file . Try your luck .
Ghim Moh there's one , Jurong East there's one , Clementi there's one , Sim Drive there's one .. the rest i dunno liao ... Try calling Comfort to ask .
Orientation ? U think what ? SBS driver ? SMRT busus driver ?
ya la , orientation on your own .... everyday can orienatation la , OTOT .... own time own target .
Rental ranging from $44 for Toyota Crown , $50 for Sonata or Magentis .
$$$ not too important , important is the time u are allow to get the cab .
Like if you are driving night . Standard 5pm to 5am = $44 , and 4pm to 4am $46 , i would get the $46 one ... why ? $2 difference only , but 4pm to 5pm , changing shift time , can get as much as $25 an hour work .
Even better if 4pm start , $44 for Crown or $48 for Sonata .
Always ask for Sunday off ...always insist ur Sunday is for family , not for work .
Sunday damn boring one , no extra surcharge other than Airport surcharge .
standard practise : If u urgent off , must pay $20-$30 for hirer to cover for your shift . A must to uphold this practise .
And always say No to night time servicing of vehicle .... Hirer must go for all servicing , they are paid to go for service .
If u go , u jeopardised your own income , but servicing rebate your hirer take . No meaning , like Hirer taking you for a ride .
My advice .... if you are looking to find a Day Shift taxi , save your breathe , damn hard to find .
If you are between 30 to 40 years old , and has a family , or kid still small , and must insist on day shift , good to be a hirer on your own .... on a Toyota Wish from TransCab .
especially if you are staying around wlands , yishun , cck , bt panjang , bt batok or Toh Guan / Jurong East / Jurong west / Taman Jurong .... this few housing has got CNG Top up kiosk .
TransCab giving $800 CNG rebate for all hirers .... meaning u start off with $800 richer than all non-Wish taxi drivers .
Not only that , u get Non Claim Bonuses NCB about $200 per year , plus the rest of benefits , like loyalty benefit , rental punctuality benefit , performance benefit etc ..
Using this $800 , as an assurance , or cover for your lost of income during your 1st 3 months training period .
Oh yes , u need to have some training .... by yourself .
Taxi driving is all about hardship , but u'll get better each day ... once u familiarised with routes , u'll be more relief than the 1st 2 months when u dunno much about Singapore .
Hey Frendz , U r a lucky man, gotten ALN n poolman to coaching U, they both are most friendly n helpful in this taxi forum, So keep it up, ask more questions when U encounter any problem. They r real Gem that U found. write FR for ur driving experiences. gd luck Bros.

see my friend , nothing is free , i mean , yellow top is indeed deposit-less , but their daily rental is a bit higher than normal taxis .
Like a normal crown is $44 , but for yellow-top taxis , might be $46 or $47 , u pay extra ....
If u save the few dollars each day , u still be able to fork out the mthly instaments ... and end of your driving venture , the deposit still go back to your bank account .
Yellow top ? Nothing back .
U got study math ????

food nice u say the cook is good .
food not nice u say people recommend wrongly to you .
Hahahahah .... bad company this Alvin Hoon .
since u are a Part time , in fact , ur scope is wider , as in u can either go for Premier , TransCab , Comfort or Smart if have .
Forget about Prime , they only allow relief to drive like 14 days in a year .
not forgetting SMRT , who what i know , many OMO they actually looking for relief , but they can't find one .
Again , part time to find a day shift driving , quite difficult .
Go for night shift , hopeful .
I m driving 6 days as day relief, paying $46 for toyota crown from comfort. is this normal?
I start after 7am and ends at 5pm. taking a bus to hirer place to collect taxi. sometimes hirer drives until 6.45am before returning for my shift. so its 7am to 5pm for my day shift.
thanks to poolman/ ALN for posting these helpful tips

$46 ? depending on the age of the Crown . If beyond 5 year old , it's $44 .
$46 is usually for vehicle under 4 years old .
But if can find a day shift as a relief , even $48 is worth paying for , cos day shift hard to comeby .
