In Singapore , due to the Financial crisis , they dare not launch more new taxis onto the road , any news or rumours heard from current cabbies ?

cos my friend went to apply a New Sonata , but nothing , the operation side say all old Sonata , new one " must wait " .... how long ? No indication .

I thought Taxi company charge a flat fee per day from every taxi taxi drivers?
If this is so, Financial Crisis should have nothing got to do with the new / old cars.
Probably they want to lease out the older cars first before bringing in the new ones?

still don't understand why the four new companies don't want to make use of the current economy crisis and merge into one Mega Taxi company ??
Premier , Smart , TransCab and Prime should merge into one , say named Alliance Taxi of Singapore ( ATS ) ..... and really challenge Comfort and SMRT .....

So Smart rolling out which type ? Toyota Wish CNG ..again ?Or Honda Airwave CNG ?

NO CNG label. aiyah must be cng anyway. besides honda freed got other models using only petrol???..hmmz

This 2 models i believe not so ideal , due to high rental and maintenance .... Avante haven't hit the road yet .... not too sure if Teo Hock Seng of Komoco Motor would launch this Avante for taxi and jeopardised their sales , now Avante very good sales ... -

price of steel is dropping recently, hence scrap metal prices. is it because of these the taxi companies are trying not to renew its fleet too fast and try to increase the lifespan of existing fleet? and also due to the current downturn, try not to expend money to buy new vehicles; use the existing ones for a longer time instead?

I'm jus so puzzled by all these new taxi companies... they have cabs in all shapes and colours... where's the good old standard colored cabs ??? Worst thing to know is some of their flag down fee is $5 ?? The amazing chrysler ? I only discovered after I sat in it so happily... But amid this chaos I also found a value cab from eBustop.. its only $30 for 13 passengers!! Any other companies offering better prices for these new 13-seater cabs ??
