Which areas lack of taxis?

I believe though taxi ridership may drop in the current economic climate and made worse with more people becoming taxi drivers upon job insecurity or losses, there may be areas taxi drivers tend to neglect. Hope through this topic, taxi drivers get to find more info of "lobangs" to find customers and at the same time, customers can find taxis more easily. I think the Chinatown OG taxi stand sometimes really lack taxis. Yesterday, I happened to pass by around 10pm++; prob OG just closed and many people queued up waiting for taxis. But there were none! Where are the taxis?

Sat and Sun(morning-noon period) jurong west st 42 always must wait min. 30 mins to get cab not sure why

Another common problem is majority of taxi drivers tend to Change Shift around the same time, hence creating a moment of "vacuum". Since the taxi business getting more competitive, I hope some drivers take the opportunity to earn from this moment of "vacuum" by changing shift at different times. Around 4++ time, its so difficult to get a taxi in Shenton Way and Cecil St areas! So many "Changing Shifts". How frustrating it is!

one more thing that gets me pissed off is whenever a cab light is green yet never stops when i hail for him to stop in advance already.

Normal weekday nite 4.30pm to before 5pm, most areas hard to get taxi cos cabbies changing shift, esp CBD, cos no surcharge...haha 5pm to 8pm, everywhere many cab... 8pm to before midnite, those areas just outside CBD esp scotts, beach, north bridge, serangoon very hard to get cab cos no surcharge again... haha 930pm to 1030pm taxi demand highest in town. Even those in CBD surcharge zone also not enough taxi.... cos only left with nite shift cabbies (those omo ones rest liao) plus not many cabbies want to go back empty to town if they can get pax in HDB After 12am, everywhere many cab.... Normal wkday day time, you must ask guru kin....

the same old story...does fisherman know which spot below the water there is abundance fishes around...this need experience for long years...and with the help of those fishing birds circle around above the water there must be abundance as below...those documentation film on geographical channel alway shown.
for taxi is bit difficult to look for pax and where pax is abundance and at which spot and at which time....maybe we need fishing birds again ...haha

In fact , except town , everywhere in Singapore needs cabs from 10am to 12.30pm ....Cos many commuters gets on board a cab , destination ? Orchard , Bugis , town area , so taxi saturated inside town , HDB area , shortage .
Normal working days , u dun find this problems , cos of Tuas and Jurong ind.area , Jurong never shortage of taxis , in fact over-flow of taxis population on weekdays .
Weekend cos Tuas 5-days , that's why .

How come twice I was at Jalan Besar around 9pm I found great difficulty in getting a taxi?
The first time, there were hardly any taxis.
The second time, there were quite a few taxis, but none of them wanted to stop...

May b U try to walk further down to Sim Lim Square after the ERP gantry, I beg all taxi rush to U, when U flag Ur hand.

I don't see how the gantry comes in here... The cabs were already in the area and passing by me without stopping. There were plenty of cabs...

9 pm ?Let me explain ...
See Jalan Besar is about less than 1km away from Bencoolen , which have an extra $3 surcharge payable , if pax get on board .
Jalan Besar , $0 surcharge , that's why !!!

True ma , Bencoolen Street is it ? After gantry , got surcharge , but must be at any taxi stand , if taxi stop at non-regulated area , LTA will fine them , so best is Bugis Junction taxi stand , or u on-call lor ... if lazy to walk .If u want taxi at 9pm , must really pay for it most time .

i think the CBD regulation for taxi is stricter in the day time... after 8pm, me bo chap liao... anywhere also stop... no more bus lane also....

Hahaaa......... all the smart guys knew wat I mean liao. last time I kong kong pk up pax out side cbd 1 km , now I knew why all cabbies so kind to give way to me. heheee..... Thank U Bros ALN vital advise.

When you are in residential area, the hardest time to get a cab is monday-friday, around 9am to 11am.. Not a single sight of cabs except a few kittens with "Busy".I have to call cab to get one and sometimes, I even have to wait 45min to get a cab. By then I already taking public transport... Have been like since I enter uni 3 years ago... haiz..

Appeal to LTA , tell them U dont mind to pay the $3, any where any place, So taxi uncles dont need to go Airport to Q. feel free to drop by to see the cab Q fm T1 to T3. U will know the hard time for the Taxi uncle to earn a living.
