MORE than 650 cabbies will be out of a job in the next one to three years, when they mark their 73rd birthday.
That is the age at which their taxi vocational licences issued by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will expire - even if these cabbies feel fit enough to carry on driving.
And given the current ailing economy, those who took up driving taxis as a 'recession job' do want to continue beyond this age.

At the age of over 55, their reflexes will drop inevitably.
so it's proven , younger drivers tends to have fewer accidents than senior drivers .
Depends on their driving habits too...

Let's start driving at 13!
Road hazard is applied to any age IMO,How good, experience you're but got no patience or lack of road courtesy and driving skills also no point,My uncle who has experience of 28 years of driving taxis quit because he lack of patience and always grumble. We must take note that the road doesnt belong to us but for everybody to use.I always advise to grumbling cabbies when they start complaining about other road users.
One of the old cabby abt 60yrs old only, when am reversing to park my car, he came out from the carpark lot let me knock on his cab, I told him that cant U see my reverse light is on to reverting, at least U honk me that U wanted to come out from the carpark lot, he said that he nv see the reverse light. So what is the moral of this story, is very clear cart. my car rear pumper tented with a small scatches. his just a small scatches.
reverse u mean?
The other day I just had a cabby knock on my side door while we were both entering a converging lane. Wtf sia.....I was in front and he came so bloody close to me. I quickly pulled over to the side and gestured for him to do so. He just drove away. I was kind of in some shock so i didnt note his no. plate.
As I glanced at him, he looked like an old chap!! maybe late 60s. And the way he drove tells me he's not so alert. Oh well, i live and let live cos cabbies are most afraid of accidents as they have to fork out quite a bit of money upfront (to dunno who) whether it's their fault or not.
Thank Bros for correcting Me.
That lates 60 cabby admit his mistake too, but cheepie I need to spray paint just a 50cent spot scatches.
