For newbies .... I hope to share my knowledge about Tuas with you .
Briefly , Tuas Industrial is separated by four square plot of land .
The 4 squares is mainly Joo Koon area , Gul area , Tuas area , and Tuas south area .
All separated by 3 main roads : AYE , Pioneer Road and Tuas Road .
Joo Koon square , the whole area is about a Circle , we name it " Joo Koon Circle " , within Joo Koon Circle , there will be some " fishbone" type of subsidiaries , namely Joo Koon Way , Joo Koon cresent , Joo Koon Road .
Gul Area also got a circle , " Gul Circle " , the whole circle is about 15 minutes 60km/h drive . Then within the circle , like a fishbone , all his subsidairies , Gul Road , Gul Way , Gul Drive , Gul Street , Gul Ave etc ...
Gul Circle is complex , especially the offices and complexes and got no number sequence , one moment u see No.10 , next could be No.56 , without any neighbours .
Gul Circle can be access through Tuas road ( PIE ) , or Gul Way ( AYE ) .
..........................................................................................................................
But Gul Road is not inside Gul Circle , nor the rest . It's an independant road leading to the shore , Shipyard area .
That's the only Gul not link with Gul Circle . Totally detached from the circle .
Tuas Area is the largest .
The old Tuas and the new tuas .
Old Tuas is namely Tuas Ave 1 to Ave 8 , and Tuas Ave 18 to Tuas Ave 20 . Old Tuas is near AYE . All the way to end Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim , near Tuas checkpoint .
When u see Sony , it's the neginning of old Tuas .
When u see Tiger Brewery , and Coca Cola , that's the end of Old Tuas .
That's how big the area .
I worked six years there yet still confuse
So called New Tuas is named : Tuas Ave 10 , Ave 11 , Ave 13 ....
New Tuas is very near to Tuas South , via Tuas Cresent , about 2 minutes drive !!!
To get to Tuas South , must remember 2 main roads !
Via AYE ? Used Tuas West Drive > Tuas South Ave 3 !!!!
Via PIE ? Via Pioneer Road > Tuas Cresent > Tuas South Ave 5 .
If u hit Tuas South Ave 3 and Tuas South Ave 5 , u will not be lost to get to Tuas South Ave 2 , 4 , 6 or 8 .
Like AMK , Tuas South those roads adopted vertically and horizontal concept ...
Tuas South Ave 1 , 3 , 5 , 7 , 9 , vertically , Tuas South Ave 2 , 4 , 6 ,8 is horizontal .
Got it ?
Go and figure out .... very easy one .

What Street hire ? U more likely to pickup ghost than street hire , those company employee all on call book a cab one ..... They seldom flag for cabs , they booked one . Cos company pay ma , if not company pay , they take their company bus to Jurong Point and hope in a cab , cos cheaper that way .
Mind you from Tuas to Jurong Point , almost $10 during peak hour .
So it's cheaper to take company buses to Jurong Point then switch to a cab if urgent .
If u on 1st shift , from 10am to 2pm , Tuas area those company level got people book taxi go down Town , like going meeting , like auditor go back PWC , like delivery urgent parcel etc ....
Then at 4.30pm , customers inorder to avoid peak hour surcharge , and cheaper booking , and due to changing shift , less cab , they booking start rolling in ....Until 5pm ... Less booking due to peak hour surcharge , still got bookings la , but those 2nd shift fellas also came rolling in into Tuas , so vast competitions , became a very little booking scenario .
Rush period is from 8pm to 10pm .... cos employee overtime , most companies reimburse their cab fare home . I really dunno now any cost cutting measures due to crisis ?
Again , competition is very tough at 8pm .... so called many taxis .
Like i said , Tuas and Tuas South is a pot of gold if u can spent a little time studying the map of Tuas .
Not that it's one of your strategies heading Tuas to earn a living , but imagine one day ..one Ah Neh tell you , at Tampines , said : " Uncle , Tuas can ? " ( if he dunno exact address ? )
The trip is about non-peak hour $30 .
U say NO ?
My history record that i picked plenty of Ah Neh and Bangala from Changi South and Changi Naval Base Road to Tuas Dormitories .... they dunno the way , definitely , cos i know Tuas well , i can even take them without second thoughts .
I can remember company name to some extend .
In fact , anywhere in Singapore , it's a lucrative business to take paxes to anywhere at Tuas .
Tuas Ave 1 , 3 , 5 , 7, 9 is all parallel .....
Tuas Ave 2 , 4 ,6 , 8 , is also parallel ....
One horizontal , one vertical .... odd number is vertical if u come in from Tuas Road .
Just remember this tip : Pioneer Road is the Spine of Tuas Industrial Area . This long stretch of road linked to anywhere u want at Tuas ....
I know Tuas well ...cos i photocopy all those Tuas roads from the directories during the SARS crisis , and cut and paste into a Mega Map surrounding Tuas , from there , it shoot my Tuas knowledge up by 75% from 25 .
Nothing to do time , while waiting for booking at Tuas , i self-studied the area all over again .

No need u say ..... Singaporea MRT taxi stands , i cannot see one without any taxi . This one u don't worry .
